Almost all his fights are(or at least were) on youtube. The reason you haven't heard of him is because he was medically banned in the USA for some time and received little coverage outside of hardcore boxing coverage due to it.

Valero suffered a motorcycle accident when he was younger and had a metal plate inserted into his head as a result. It's not something overly serious, Barrera has had the same thing.

When he was doing a medical in America it was obviously spotted and he was told he'd have to go for further testing before he could fight. He didn't bother going for that testing and instead took a fight abroad(as it meant he could fight immediately rather than waiting a few months), according to the rules of the sanctioning commission he was due to fight in he had to be banned on medical grounds for a few years and would then have to reapply for his license there, go through all the testing necessary and not fight anywhere during the period of time he would be examined. That's probably why he's been so inactive the past year.

Anyway he's mainly fought in Japan where he's trained(or at least was trained) and although he's held a World title at the weight below he's fought quite a low level of opposition, which is another reason you mightn't have heard of him.

He's a strange one in a way, he's shown in sparring to be very skilled(there's a video of him looking very impressive v Erik Morales in sparring from a long time ago) but in fights he's looked a lot cruder and I guess it could be because he's fallen in love with his power.
He looked a little more controlled against Pitalua than mos his fights, probably because of the danger Pitalua possessed with his power and if Valero fights in a boxing manner rather than a crude brawling manner he can be very dangerous.

He's just got to remember to stay boxing and that his natural power will be enough, he doesn't have to look for it.

Anyway he's a good fighter and would be a match for anyone at Lightweight, Marquez would expose him a little technically but I'm not sure Marquez could take his power and I think that's be a great fight.

Well, Valero did well, even if it was only two rds
He looked a lot more polished than previously
His chin is so exposed and a good counter hitter
will really see if Edwin can take a whack.

Okay, at 135 lbs there are several who would
be too good IMO. Khan being one, Diaz and Marquez
and Campbell. All too much for him. Prescott
will look like a giant to Valero and could do
    damage!

The peach of a right hook in rd two was thrown
    beautifullly, but didn't appear all
that heavy. Piatalua is hardly world class!

I can't get all that excited just yet. A win over a real
top 135 lb man may well change all that

Had a look and youtube and FWIW I thought he looked rather slow and didn't have the best looking defense in the world either...

A bit mad to have him gunning for Pacquaio and Hatton in fairness...
