Any Waterford lads hear about a cyclist getting knocked down yesterday(Sat) on the Dunmore road at Gaultier cross? A friend of mine came across a scene where a cyclist was being attended to by an ambulance crew whilst his 3 colleagues looked on,.... bike was in a mess ? . Apparently the group was side-swiped by an elderly lady , anybody enligthen me on how the chap fared after ? Hope to God he was was ok.....

First off, it was a girl out cycling alone. We were part of a group which were ahead of her. She is not too bad thank God. Badly bruised but she should be fine. Both myself and henboy were at her side along with another cyclist who was out with us. We called the ambulance and waited with her until her husband and the ambulance came along. It was an unfortunate accident. The motorist was stopped at the junction and looked in both directions before pulling out but the girl was in front of her at that stage.

She was released from hospital yesterday evening.

Good to hear she is ok. You do have to assume that all road users are out to kill you. Its just safer that way. I was clipped at the roundabout at walsh park a couple of weeks ago. Waterford motorists in particular and cyclists are not a good combination. Careful out there folks.

    Good to hear she's ok.

The abuse I've got at roundabouts in Waterford or when turning right off a main road is shocking.

Waterford drivers have no clue how to deal with cyclists and have a stinking attitude towards them. It puts me off getting on the bike.

The cycle lanes in Waterford are a joke and are to be avoided by any cyclists because of the state of them; covered in pot holes/glass etc.

Waterford is the pits for cycling because a dangerous amount of the locals have the idea that cyclists shouldnt be there at all. The inaction of the city council would suggest they're no better.

I wish it was different. We could have the best cycling set up in Ireland with a bit of planning and not a lot of financial input.
