For some reason i seem to be unable to sign into my alternate emails and if i send an email to them they don't forward any more( i have it set up that way in the email)The odd thing is if i send myself an email to that account it gets forwarded to my inbox (with to:new email from old email) and then i get another email sayings its actually failed to send.
Now anyone else who tries to send email (not from gmail but i haven't test otherwise) it just fails and doesn't get through.

Passwords to get into the accounts seem to fail as well but i haven't signed into them in a good while. can someone shed some light on the matter?

TBH I'm having trouble working out what you're trying to say here.

I know that if you send an email from gmail to another email account which is set up to forward all received emails to the first gmail account, gmail will discard that incoming forwarded email because it only maintains one copy of an email in your account, and that email already exists in your Sent items (this doesn't apply to email you send yourself to and from the same account).

Do they fail or don't they?

If they do fail, try recovering/resetting the password.

ok lets call it mainemail@gmail.com and backupemail@gmail.com
backupemail is sent to forward everything to mainemail and mainemail has backupemail registered as one of the emails i can send FROM. so they're both linked to eachother.
Now if you try send an email to backupemail through the primary email it gets forwarded to mainemail and it also comes up with a failed notice so theres 2 emails... One saying it failed and the other a perfect copy that is forwarded...

Now i'm unable to sign into backupemail any more but i'm still able to send FROM it with my mainemail

how can you send email from "backup" mail, if you cannot sign into it ??

browser cookies, will keep you signed into one account, and you need to make sure "sign you completely" and log into a second one.

If you have copied and pasted at the "backup" mail sign on/email address and have a slight spelling error in it, this would explain why

you cannot sign in, and why emails are bouncing...

On another note, if you are trying to back up emails, why would you use the same provider. If the main one goes tits up, the back up will probably go with it. If you use yahoo/hotmail for back up, then you will have less signing in problems, and the mails should be on different servers , so backed up.

Go to gmail and go to settings then accounts and you can enter emails there. You verify them and then when you send an email you get a drop down list of emails you can send from.

What happens if you send an email to backupemail@gmail.com from a third (non-related) email account?

    it just fails

Then it would seem that the account doesn't exist any longer. The fact that you are apparently receiving that copy of the forwarded email when you send from the account to which all mails get forwarded could be some persistent settings strangeness.

Again, have you tried to recover/reset the password?

do gmail accounts get deleted if you don't sign into them after a while?

No, as far as I know they are there forever unless you delete them in account settings.

Have you tried recovering/resetting the password?
