i wouldnt have details, just heard from word of mouth. he was in my club when i joined back in 2007. he got 3rd place finishes a few times when the dublinwheelers used to enter a team into the Ras.

have trained with the rider in question, he had taken some time off the bike, and is only coming back to it now.... obviously in great form.

You have to be careful of that word of mouth thing not always accurate !
But at the same time very frustrating ! I would imagine that B licence would be in the post !

But I find myself in the same boat, I last did a decent season in 2007, was
injured last year, so I lost out on a couple of seasons racing. I did a big winter and now find myslef barely getting round in S1/S2 bunch if at all !

It does n't help when you seen who's winning the races ...
Even take the Harry Reynolds .....

    1. Lavery ( full time )
    2. Halpin ( full time & racing in Belgium )
    3. Helion ( full time & Irish Track Squad )

It's hardly fair these guys riding in an "AMATEUR" Sport ... and most times regular Joe's get 30 secs to 2 mins head start or none at all !!!

Cycling in this country has been like this for years... and does n't look likely to change, which is a shane, the enjoyment of has been taken out of it !

    Biker Joe ....

true point indeed, I don't mind them taking part but at least give them a bigger time gap, you've also got to consider that the S1\S2 caught the S3's in lap 1 of 7 in the Harry Reynolds Memorial due to in-sufficient time gap at the start, and it wasnt really down to S1 strengths.

If you remember Irish Road Club paddys day race where sufficient time gaps was given and the vets just bout stayed away from bunch (s1 & others) by 150-200 metres at the finished.

but it is true cycling in the country has being like this for a while, and some enjoyment has being taken away, but at the end of the day i still like doin it and will continue doin it.
