Maria McCambridge ran 2.35.29 to finish 8th in this morning's Paris Marathon. This mark is just 29 seconds outside the AAI standard of 2.35 flat required for the World Championships marathon taking place in Berlin in August.

It'll be interesting to see how this one pans out. Standards are standards, after all, but there may be some leniency towards her selection, considering Pauline Curley was sent to Beijing with the B standard (eventhough there are no B standards for the Worlds marathon). In only her second marathon at all, having run 2.36.x in the DCM last October.

My knowledge on the marathon sides of things is limited, however I doubt there's the opportunity to run another marathon between now and August. So her fate is in the hands of the AAI Gods now.

Very unlucky. Great to see Maria put too strong marathon performances back to back.

great run. I'd be surprised if she wasn't sent unless somebody else runs quicker.

AAI have final say over world champs unlike Olympics where the OCI like to mess things up
