A valiant effort from Fagan who just seemed to be tired from the heavy race load recently finished third broken with a small injection of pace in the latter stages of the race. The fact he was glancing back consistently for the last 600m really showed how much he was struggling though only beaten by two seconds from the leader

    1st Rui Silva (Portugal) 28.45
    2nd Paul Tergat (Kenya) 28.46
    3rd Martin Fagan (Ireland) 28. 47
    4th Andy Carlson (US)
    5th Vinny Mulvey (Ireland)

In her 10k Road debut Mary Cullen finished second to Alex De Silva in a race that panned out similar to the mens race Mary loosing ground to the leader. While she made attempts to reclaim the ground she had just let the gap get too big.
1st Alex De Silva (Portugal) 32.17
    2nd Mary Cullen (Ireland) 32.25

I notice that Martin Fagan said in his post race interview that he was heading back to the States for treatment and will then start aiming for a spring marathon. He had previously said he was aiming for Dublin, so I guess DCM 2009 is no longer in his plans.
