Wireless network card issue

    Hi,

I have a dell xps M1530 laptop. The issue I am having is with my wireless network card.

When I bought my laptop, it came pre-installed with windows vista. But I didnt like vista and wiped everything from it and installed xp instead. I got all the drivers for my system from the net and everything is working pretty much perfectly apart from one thing...the wireless network card.

With windows vista, i just flicked the wireless on/off button to on and within about 10 seconds, I would be connected to the internet via my wireless router.

However, with windows xp home sp3, it is sometimes, I can establish a connection with no problem. However most of the time, when I turn my wireless card on, it takes about 3 minutes to establish the connection. Other times it will take 3 or 4 minutes and then say there is limited connectivity and then about another minute later it will connect to the router, and sometimes it just stays on "limited connectivity" and I have to right click on the icon and repair my connection which disabled and enables the wireless card and then it MAY connect to the router.

Can anyone please tell me whats going on here? If I'm able to connect to the wireless router, why is it sometimes taking so long to connect and why do i need to repair my connection most times?

my wireless card is an "intel(R) wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN", driver version 11.5.1.15, driver files:

    1. NET w4x32.sys
    2. NET w4c32.dll
    3. NET w4r32.dll

Thanks, in advance, for reading / replying to my issue.

    Dan.

Did you download it by automatic updates or did you go to the product site? i'd recommend going to the product website itself and searching your product and using the installer you get there for it. Other then that it kind of sounds like 50% of all my wireless experiences which is why i use the targa product that transmits the connection through the power lines
