AVG not scanning automatically

I have AVG free, and as far as I can tell, there is no automatic scanning or updating on it anymore.

Could anyone recommend a good free anti virus, which doesn't depend on me to remember to update and run it?

    Thanking you.

    AVG does update automatically.
It also scan real time emails and downloads.
The only thing it does not do automatically is full scan.
I'd say stick with this, probably the best free AV out there. Even as a commercial product it is a very reliable and good product.

Thanks Mick. I don't "see" AVG updating, I select to Update every day (or whenever I remember) and there is always a new update available. Am I mad or did AVG Free scan automatically in the past? I know I had that (possibly) dodgy license key that was given out on Boards, but I removed it after a stern warning from AVG, and installed the free version, but I was sure the full scan used to run automatically.

To be frank, I can't be trusted to remember to scan it everyday. I may have to PAY.

Don't know I have AVG Free 8.5.285 and it updates itself.
I had issues on Vista though, updates failed regularly even with latest AVG version, up to very recently. Don't know what caused this exactly.
Anyway I am back to XP for good and everything works fine.

Yep, Vista here too. I did a fresh install of AVG, but still having the same problem. There is a lot of bits playing up, so I'm just going to re-install Vista.

    Thanks for your help though.
