Ahh, the R14. Visually to me, it's a French interpretation of an Allegro. :P

Nope! not that I know about. Great cars! Fantastic to handle. And yeh! I know the tinworm got there. The late PH2 model 1978 / 79 was the best. Dipping process reduced rust.
Good points: Fast, great wide stance, 360 deg handbrake turns no problem.
Not so good: Customers complained about gearbox rattle which came from a low rpm set speed of the engine. Should mention the Peugeot engine not Renault motor. And before I get shot - that Peugeot motor was damn good for a Peugeot of its time ;-)
Paintwork hated the bird crap on it. Most popular Irish colours without quoting paint codes: Metalic Green, Met Blue, Met Silver. Non metalic: (Ixell 2pack) Burgundy, Silver, Beige, Mid Blue and Yellow.
I would love to take an R14 and upgrade the mechanical using the Energy engine from later models like the 19.

..could you bring back that Vespa for me ?

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Yeah I always thought the 14 was a poxy looking car, but they were comfortable and roomy.

Neighbours had a blue metallic one for a few years.

I'd be into the Vespa too, love to get my hand on one to restore, but not at €1.5k !

    ...that remote controlled Merc. Wow.
I had one of those, in Gold. Best present I had ever had at the time. Had working lights and everything IIRC.
Have a real W116 to look at now.

    But there is more!!!
Peugeot or to be more precise PSA delined the Marta wonder the Espace. Renault however were able to see the cost savings when they secured the Espace. How? With the composite (fibreglass) body and fully dipped chassis (galvanised) Renault were able to reduce the overhead cost of building a facility to store the components. The overall factory size reduced because all chassis & upper body units were stored outside in all weather conditions without risk of rusting. A simple process when assembly took place to remove surface water and oxidation. Runing gear and mechanicals were used from the R25
    Instant MPV.

I have my doubts about the ol' CT (Control Technique, the French NCT)

I was wandering around the local general-purpose service & repair garage in a village in Brittany when I spotted a rather tatty Peugeot. It had a broken headlight but appeared to be in use, so I checked the CT sticker. It showed that it had just passed its CT test. Mind you, the sticker was a little hard to read behind the big crack in the windscreen!

I was even more doubtful when I spotted an R5 (Mk2) in Nantes with a valid CT. Seemed a bit odd as the floor was hanging down about 1" below the sills on the passenger side.
