    Hi
Im was gonna invest in a GPS for running and I was all set to buy the 405 seeing as its the latest model and all that. However when I went on to amazon to check it out I read some of the customer reviews and most people thought that the 305 was actually better.
So has anybody gone from the 305 to the 405 and thought that the 305 was the better model? Should I buy the 305 and not the 405?
    Thanks

i have a 305 and i find it excellent, its only down side is it's size. i would imagine(only my opinion) that due to the smaller size of the 405, that the 305 may be a better product.

    hi

have you looked at the reviews on runnersworld - the link is for the 405 but you find ones for 305 as well. There are also several threads on the RW forum, discussing 305 vs 405. I have had the 305 for a few years now, and I really like it. I tried on the 405, and the funny thing is, that if you have a small wrist like I do, the 305 might be more suitable, despite its bigger size, 'cos the 405's straps are a bit stiffer and there would be a bit of a gap between the watch and your wrist. strange... :-(

anyway, it's good fun to run with a gps watch, you'll love it!!!

I have a 405 and thing it's the most fantastic thing since...well....ever... However, were I in your position, I would save my schillings and buy a Forerunner 310XT in the summer. It's a hybrid of the 305 and 405, with a whole lot more. It's priced around the same as the 405.

Have a 205 myself. Essentially the 305 without a heart rate monitor. It's great and despite the size, very comfortable. Both my dad and a friend of mine upgraded from the 305 to the 405 and both say they prefer the 305 as the 405's buttons are a bit finnecky and the wireless dongle you use to connect it to a PC is a pain.

I apply similar logic when buying electrical goods.

Here's a picture of me with my latest mobile phone:

Those were the business. I don't like those new phones with their gimmecky features like GSM ;)

I have a Garmin 305 and it's a great piece of equipment. Quite bulky on your wrist but you do get used to its size. A few of my buddy's upgraded from 205/305 to 405 and they like it but I don't think that there is any major difference to be honest....
