Dell XPS 1330 DVD Drive Problem

    my dvd drive used to record dvd's and now it doesnt

    it says " an invalid media type was specified "

    im using cyberlink powerproducer

    it has recorded before with same dvd discs and wont now

    i up-dated drive software but still no use

    any ideas ???

    Just to confirm are you 100% sure the discs are blank? happened me before when i put in a disc i "thought" was blank but it wasnt!

    yep they are

    it does vcd also and the cd-r's are blank

    This is a good point, even if you are sure they are blank, it would probably be a good idea to try a different disc and brand. One of my friends had a huge stack of about 50 dvds that someone had sent her, saying they were new. However, even though they were compatible with her dvd drive, none of them worked.

    i tried and same thing

    pops out the cd

    checked in the cd properties and says its blank

    I actually have an M1330 but i've never tried to burn a DVD! The type of disk used is also important. Isn't there DVD+R and DVD-R? Maybe the disk (Or writer) is the wrong format.
