Well the simplest option is to cancel Sky and to continue to use your existing Sky box to receive the FTA stuff that is out there. Obviously you will lose the Irish channels as they are not free.

Yes put the UK epg on your sky box and you'll receive all the ITV's and BBC's channel 4 and lots of others. You can tune channel 5 into other channels. RTE TV3 and TG4 can be received with an ariel.

    MJ smith,
If you had a sky digibox and cancelled Sky would you need to get something for the FTA channels or should they just work straight away. Oh bu the way I have an aerial as well on the roof so I am prusuming this would pick up the FTA channels

Nope you need nothing extra. Remove your Sky card and see exactly what you can get. BBC, ITV, CH4, MORE4 etc etc. Your aerial will pick up terrestial stuff RTE, TV3 etc.

If you go sky news (501)
    press interactive
    wait till loaded
    take out card

    backup to channels
    DON'T PUT CARD IN
    Ignore errors
    WAIT.
    type 101,
    or Guide
you will see that "missing" BBC & ITV free channels have appeared and RTE /TG4 /TV3 gone,

Thanks Watty. I have setanta sports. Will I lose this if I remove the card?
