My partners been working in a company for 3 years- they got a letter yesterday saying that wages/hours will more than likley be cut after the budget.

My partner is bringing home 315euro after tax as it is, i am on jobseekers allowance of 165euro. Rumour in his work says the bosses are thinking about a 3 day week.

Now i know you are entitled to something from the dole for the days you dont work, but you can only work 21 hours in those 3 days to get something from the dole(a friend who was on it a few months ago told me this ) and my partner will have worked 25 hours in those 3 days.

After adding up money, my partner will be getting 230euro (before tax) if he worked only 3 days

would we be entitled to anything at all?

Would my money be put up or would we be allowed rent allowence or something???

    Thanks

You could apply to have your means recalculated if they have changed.

Your best bet is to go into citizen's information and ask about the 3 day week, though. (Social welfare are probably too overrun to bother explaining things right now in most places)

I couldn't find anything on the citizens info website about a max number of hours for the three days, as far as I know they only care if you're working 3 days or less.

I wonder is it wishful thinking that DSW would review all those now silly little rules about part-time working. Anyways OP your partner should pay little or no income tax on those reduced earnings. Also the PRSI rate is (used to be) lower for the first 287 Euro. It may not be all bad. As Xiney mentioned , you should go back to DSW for a review of your entitlements.

i wouldnt bother with citizens information very poor in my experience,i would go into DSW and ask them.your partner wont pay any tax or prsi if his wages are cut to €230 and your jobseekers payment might be adjusted

try claiming for casual benifit if you are cut to 3 days a week
