    Hi,

I dunno if this is the best place for this. I need to buy an optical cable to connect my computer to my home theatre system. Like everything the prices range from nothing to too much but i don't want to be stuck with a cheap cable that wrecks the sound. How much should i spend to get a good reliable cable?

    cheers

They are all the same really, you will just be paying for the brand name and length of the cable.

    thanks for that!

on a semi-related note, i was looking on ebay and saw this product. I'm probably wrong but that doesnt look like an optical connection?

Cable quality doesn't come into play with digital sources.

Looks like an adaptor on the end, there are some optical cables that have the same shape as a normal 3.5mm stereo cable. That adaptor probably comes out to reveal the standard SPDIF optical connection.
