There is a concession (i.e branded shop fit) bike department now in the main Arnotts on Henry street [its where the runners used to be at the abbey st. entrance].

Was in the market for a triathlon bike and the bloke really knew his stuff. More than helpful.

Don't know what brand they are but they're made in Austria and the logo colours are black and orange? Ring any bells?

Anyway just thought id mention it, support our Irish stores...even though the bikes are made in Austria :D

They're the bikes used by the Austrian team coming to the Ras. Very nice looking :)

I suggest you first ask to borrow their pump to fix a puncture. It's a great test of customer service. ;)

Might be worth checking to see if they have a full-face helmet you can try on first, though. (Just in case the guy turns cyco.)

The irony is that KTM (motorcycles) have pulled their dealership out of Ireland only recently!!

    Quick question:

Im new to bikes and when i went to try the bike for size/fit i couldn't reach the ground while on the saddle. Im 5'3 and i was on the smallest of their male frames. I was concerned that i couldn't touch the ground with my feet but the assistant said that it was fine.

    Is it?

Yes. If you can put your foot down while still in the saddle, then the saddle is too low.

If you couldn't reach the ground at all then it sounds a bit big, if you could reach it with your toes then it's OK.

They've had that sale sign up for ages. The prices seemed pretty stiff last time I had a look.

My girlfriend is 5"3 and she cant get on my dirt jumper (15" frame). If you cant put your feet on the ground that is VERY bad.If you fall off you could damage yourself. What shop told you this advice?
Most experienced cyclists cant touch the ground while on the saddle, but if your not experienced, this isnt a good thing.

If it was that shop in arnotts, the smallest bike I saw there was a Dirtjumper. Id say either a 14" frame with 26" wheels or a 24" wheel is what you wana look at.

Also Buy a Bike with Female geometry, it will suit you better than mens geometry.

Does that KTM shop sell anything? there are extremely pricey for a unestablished brand in the Irish market.

I was in there and They seemed to be just dossing on the bikes, looks like fun:)

Also why no pedals(i know high end bikes dont come with any) but WTF!
