With the budget coming next week and there being an obvious hit on the old reliables, when will the suppliers start with the price hikes ?

I presume a spike will occur in response to the spike in people filling up pre budget ?

Should I fill up tomorrow or wait till budget eve ?

I'd imagine that diesel will definately go up since it wasn't touched in the November budget. Petrol will probably increase too but not by too much imo.

Motor tax and possibly VRT band changes.

20 cents on both I reckon. I don't think they'll put the diesel up by more than the petrol - That would piss off the hauliers/businesses/taxis/greens.

Motor tax could be another 10% all round.

I think you'll find its the other way around... diesel is dearer than petrol in the UK. 98 petrol 104 diesel makes more sense!

For funck sick just give us a break fed up of paying paying and paying again.
No room for a descent living anymore.

ESB dropped their prices by 1% since the petrol dropped by over 60% since the last summer. Cheers ESB that is so nice of you

    What's next?

Agree with this. Was over in the UK on Wednesday - Diesel 99.9p, Petrol 92.9p per litre.

Fuel is going to go up in price, when Barack Obama invades Iran:eek:

Today's RoI unleaded average price according to pumps.ie: 106.9c
Today's UK unleaded average price according to petrolprices.com: 103.5c (94.1p)

No scope there for putting up unleaded prices and driving millions worth of business over the border.

Diesel otoh in the UK is averaging 112c (102p) versus 94c in RoI. Plenty of scope for a 20c hike there (possibly with rebates for hauliers).

The UK put 2p extra duty on petrol on April first, these prices may not fully reflect this. Given this I expect the budget here should put 3c on petrol and 12c or so on diesel.

This budget will be no good .....this time 3 months we will have "Another Emergency Budget" where petrol will go up to €2 per litre.

Id say petrol will go up at least c25 and if we recover from that slap they will put another c10 on in 2 months...!

The clowns are running the circus

Sorry, my bad.I wonder will the government just label any big increase in petrol or diesel as a 'carbon tax'? I can see it happening, they've been dying to use a carbon tax on one fuel or another since the last budget..
