Slooooooooooooowwww internet connection. Basically if you live outside major residential areas you have little choice for broadband. I'm beginning to think dial up was nearly as fast.

One of these guys might be able to help, I've met the owners of both businesses, sound guys, and they appear to know their stuff.

    http://cksolutions.ie
    http://www.sositsupport.com

I haven't used either because I'm a geek and do my own tech.

The other thing I'd recommend is that you get a TechCheck from your local county enterprise board - anyone I've spoken to who's had it done has raved about it.

Support at a competitive price. Most support companies you talk to start off with "and there's the 4 grand support contract" etc etc

That and a lack of knowledge of products other than Microsoft which can come in cheaper and perform better. :D

eircom were planning on following BT's example by positioning themselves as providing good support for this sort of stuff. I know most people will probably balk at the idea of getting technical support from a company that gives you a modem with a massive security hole in it, but it might be worth seeing what they offer nonetheless.

Ouch. I wouldn't like to think of how many people will be bitten by terrible support. I would never recommend to anyone using a company who can't get Technical Support for one of their own products right let alone for other peoples products.

Would do more to bring down the median price of tech support than anything else I would imagine.

Broadband access for me. Poor quality at the best of times. In this day and age, really unacceptable.

The meaning depends on the context.

In this context an_other was accused of pimping (soliciting business for personal reasons) and got a warning.

Then Trojan IMO pimped ( soliciting business for indirect personal reasons ).

Maybe I am mistaken with my definition of pimping but it appears to me to be a case of double standards.

Getting a support company that is reliable and not too expensive. Have used a couple of different ones myself in the past.

Yeah WWW.SOSITSUPPORT.COM have come across them met the owner nice guy and will be giving dealing with them in the future (next crisis!!), just want reliability! Met him through networking.

Have also used Motherboard and Techies on Wheels, happy to endorse them both but I didn't know anyone there.

    lads lads lads

unfortunately boards is not an equal opportunities pimping location

ive seen it time and time again that some people are allowed advertise their businesses and others get shot down for a mere mention

it should be either completely banned or allowed for all to even the playing field

Recommending someone else's business is okay, but pimping your own isn't, esp when you pimp your own, whilst pretending it's someone else's. Didn't see the post that was removed, so don't know what it said.

Trojan did not pimp himself, he simply mentioned two companies that he happens to know people in.
I know someone who works in BT but if I was to recommend them for broadband I would not be accused of pimping.

If I was to pimp the IT company I work for, then that would be pimping.

In 1 Saruman - I think the distinction between pimping and recommending is fairly obvious.

Take the toys back now lads :)

IF you ask the mods you are allowed to advertise your business. But blatant first time posters who recommend some business is always suss to a mod.

But I do see where your coming from.

I didn't even directly advertise I just mentioned I was in IT support and to PM me.
I'm not a prolific poster but I'm not a first timer either.
