I have noticed some great deals advertised in the Elverys shop window on my way from work. Some are listed here.

they have some good half price deals on runners and football boots, ideal presents, i would also assume other sports shops would keep in line with these deals :)

I notice that they have great offers every weekend - normally run from Thursday to Sunday. I got a new threadmill last saturday in their Tuam branch for e799.00, reduced from e1999.00!:) Fantastic value & this weekend they have something like 50% off all Le Coq Sportif & New Balance clothing & footwear. They are really putting it up to Lifestyle & Champion lately. Happy Days

Ya i saw nike runners, 90euro down to 45,
i checked the champion sports webste and the sales are crap, but i think each store can have its own special sales, so some deals mightent be advertised,

Word of warning check that you are being charged the correct price at the till. My OH was buying a day pack for our daughter in Elverys in Fonthill Retail Park last week that was reduced but when she got to the checkout it scanned at the full price.

Also the service from buy4now on Elverys stuff is not as good as it should be, I cancelled my last order with them as I had heard nothing about dispatch after two weeks.

I Stopped buying there when i read this. Don't really want to support them when they don't appear to pay their taxes here.

The Stauntons took over Elverys, which is the oldest sports chain in Ireland, in 1998. Staunton Sports is an unlimited company and does not have to file publicly accessible accounts. Its shareholders are listed as companies based in the Channel Islands.

That sort of flawed logic does more harm than good to the economy.

As a company they obviously still pay lots of taxes in this country.

Eh no, the staff might pay taxes the company doesn't

On the bright side its a company which is providing employment to hundreds of people in Ireland, which during these difficult times is a good thing.

I can't believe your attitude lods. This is a post about a chain of shops that offer good deals in bricks and mortar shops in IRELAND. They employ hundreds of people and you go digging around for something like this?

So where do you buy all your stuff? Do you avoid all shops that are not solely Irish based?

Dude please refrain from making statements on something that you obviously have ZERO knowlege on that make you look like a total simpleminded fool

1.All companies in Ireland pay corporation taxes on their profits, they can be registered whereever they want once the trade is carried out in Ireland it is liable to corporation tax, so they pay the same % of tax as both champion sports and lifestyle and mary the green grocer(ltd)
2.Company would also pay other taxes like any other Irish company PRSI(yes Employer PRSI of approx 8% which is addition to what the employee pays) on all employee wages, VAT on non resale items(eg legal), rates............
3.You would be very surprised about the amount of companies that are registered abroad

Do you avoid all companies not registered in ireland(eg Tesco/Dell/all car manufacturers.....................)

Appologies for going of topic but a stupid statement needed to be corrected

everything has to be manually adjusted, evrything scans in at full price so this is a good warning, i work there a few years ago and there a bit behind in there way of doing things so make sure you keep an eye on it! i always fond elverys much dearer than champion but ill be sure to have a look...

Elverys in Tullamore, Co.Offaly have up to 60% off all Leinster rugby gear at the minute. Don't know if this is in other stores.

The Kartel polo tops are also half price (down from 25-30 to 12.50). I always buy Kartel and they don't shrink and lose their shape like most other brands seem to, they last ages.

JJB Sports have some great deals aswell. At one stage they had predator football boots for €30 and 2 nike footballs for €5. You can also pick up some decent t-shirts fairly cheap. The sale in the blanchardstown branch seems to be going on forever. Still cant understand how Lifestyle etc.. can get away with charging shocking prices.
