    Bail is usually set in line with the accused's income. It would appear this man is a pensioner of limited means and has applied for legal aid, hence the €100.

    I passed by the Courthouse today and it seemed busy, the usual faces were hangin' off the steps, but there was a bit more activity than usual.

    I thought it was also to deter the criminal...the accused from absconding,100euro versus life,....10years,...5years 6mths in jail..........eh yea I see your point .If guilty he will probably get suspended sentence,so actually a weeks pension is the correct bail.
