freeview uk in south dublin

    i live out by leopardstown,
    i see a lot of tv aerial up on houses,
    can anybody tell me if they can pickup a signal for freeview uk.
    from wales or the north of ireland.

    Do yourself a favour and get a FTA satellite box. M Vision HD-200 is what I have and it does MPEG4 DTT and Sat combined so you get all channels on one EPG.

    Freeview from UK does/will share frequencies with Irish DTT/Analogue transmissions so you can never rely on it.
    Add to that, very low power compared to UK analogue it's not worth much.

    have all the satellite stuff,
    the selection of channel on feeview uk are better than freesat,
    i suppose over time freesat will get the same selection.
    have you seen freeview uk working on any tv in dublin.
    i just like messing around with stuff.
    have done it with satellite. thought i might try it with freeview

    UK freeview/dtt is not possible from leopordstown from wales.

    It might be possible on one or two fine high pressure days in the summer for 5 or 10 minutes in the evening or something but I'm sure you arent putting up an aerial for that off chance.

    As for from NI-same holds true unless by a quirk of location,perfect analogue Divis is getting through to you which in leopardstown is highly unlikely [it might happen higher up around the blue note or somewhere like that].
    Best advice is to stick with satelite.

    If you've all the satellite stuff I presume you mean FTA and then you're only missing a few channels that are on Freeview e.g Dave, Sky sports News, Fiver, Five US . As you say over time Freesat will increase it's channels and if you wait long enough Five's associates will probably go FTA so I would just wait if I were you. I have both Freeview and FSFS and I watch the latter much more than the former.
