Hi, I'm looking to get a hard drive for an iQon laptop and i'm just wondering does it matter what type i put into it. I did a search on eBay for 2.5" Hard drive for laptop and got a number of entries for toshiba, dell, sony, fujitsu... etc, none for iQon, can I use any one of these, i would have thought so, i presume it's just the case that's different, can someone confirm?

    Ta

    Hi

    Click on Start Menu
    go to Control Panal
The double click on system then select hardware and select device manager then select disk drives click the + sign and that will give you a model number type that into google and you should find the hdd manufacturer that will tell you the type ide / sata. from what I remember they were mostly 2.5" ide drives but best to check

There are two different drives used in these laptops. Sata or ide. If yours is a sata then buy any sata drive. If its ide then buy an ide drive. Doesn't matter who manufactures the drive.

Take out the HDD and see if its sata or ide, most new laptops have sata [check google for the picture]
