Not a good week for airplaneopters
Two people have died in a helicopter crash on the Kildare/Meath border.

The crashed is believed to have happened in dense bogland on the Kildare / Meath border near Enfield yesterday evening and the wreckage was discovered this afternoon.

A search led by the Coast Guard rescue helicopter discovered the wreckage in an isolated area of the Bog of Allen at around midday after it was reported missing to the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).

It is understood the helicopter was reported missing after it took off at 5pm yesterday but failed to return to Weston private airport outside Dublin. The two crash victims are believed to be an instructor and a student.

A Garda spokeswoman said scenes of crime officers were en route the scene but could not confirm how many fatalities had occurred. However, it is believed at least one body has been spotted.

The Air Accident Investigation Union from the Department of Transport is also travelling to the scene to start investigations.
