    Hi

I have a website up and running for a few months now and was wondering about adding Google adsense to it. I was wondering has anyone else done this and do you get much of a return. My website is www.sportscoaching.ie and thoughts on it would be great. thanks

    Hi,

It's prity easy to setup allright. I had it running on a previous site.
You need to be getting a lot of hits to make a few €.
Also and this is just my opinion, I think more times than not running adsense on a site makes the site look unprofessional.

    Hi,

Few notes on this, as the last reply says you need traffic to make it worth your while. A very good click through rate on a site like yours would probably be <1 % so if you were lucky enough to get that you'd need to take your current traffic, get 1% of your unique page views and that will give you an idea of how many clicks you might get. Most adsense clicks will be between 2c and 10c but they might go up to as high as $5\$10 if you are extremely lucky.

The biggest thing I would say though is that with adsense ads you run the risk of driving business away from yourself. You are going to have adverts on your site that will draw potential customers away from your own site and that may not be worth the small revenue you will make from your adsense account

whats the best way about putting ads on a site w/o the risks or limiting the risks above?

Adsense is often confused as being the easiest and first option you should opt for when trying to monetise a website.
It is easy to set up but its very hard to make good money with it if you dont know what you're doing.
The ads your website will trigger arent going to be high cost per click (cpc) ads so its hardly worth doing because I doubt you're getting thousands of unique visitors a day to the site and 5c clicks will get you nowhere.
What you ideally need to do is control who the ads are displayed to using a program like openx. You want to display the ads for search engine traffic only and only for the highest cpc keyword search strings that bring people to the site (because the keyword search effects which ads are triggered).
As you can gather its a complicated business to do right...id avoid it if I was you.

It's hardly worth your while messing around with Adsense. You just need more business advertisers, perhaps of sports goods.
You also could do with a forum and other stuff of interest, to be honest you need to upgrade your website or else if won't make much money (any money) ever.
It doesn't have geographical location which is very important. But to be upgrade you'll have to spend more cash, probably a lot more....up to you.
