And according to the RBS site we're playing Italy, Wales and Scotland at home...in Croke Park! Guess there's not much hope being held out for Landsdowne to be completed! :D

I was always under the impression that LD wouldn't be finished until April/May 2010?

I know the project schedule says early 2010, but I always assumed it would be more likely summer 2010.

I'd say that the IRFU and GAA have pencilled in using Croke Park for the Six Nations, until the new venue is fully completed.

France are gonna be pissed again for having to play on the Friday. They'll most likely have Top14 games on the preceding Sunday.

They can hardly complain. The friday night game is there to satisfy French TV. No one else wants games on a friday.

Of course they can complain! The only people who can't complain are the TV companies who want this. Just because TV wants it, doesn't mean the French squad/managment want it!

In relation to TV audiences -

After the success of the Friday night fixture in 2009 - which produced the biggest TV audience of any French game in France and the second highest average TV audience of all 15 games in the 2009 Championship - the Council have decided to host another Friday match, to be played in Cardiff on Friday, 26 February.

Since 2003, the Championship has been entirely broadcast on terrestrial TV and the audience figures have increased dramatically in all of the participating six Nations from 94 million in 2003 up to 125 million in 2009.

So, there are reasons for another Friday game (for the French).

The completion date for Lansdowne has always been April 2010 ie. after the 6N.

I don't get why people hate the Friday night game so much?!

I like the game on the Friday but I hate not having one on the Sunday.

I actually think it's a pretty tough fixture list. Considering the importance that momentum plays, the France game for me will be the really big one (depending on whether England have just seen another false dawn or an genuine improvement). The problem really is the 1 week turnaround after the Italy game. Don't forget with the maul back the forward battle will (most probably) be restored to the game it'll be tough to go to Paris 1 wk after playing Italy.

As for the Friday night thing - it's the French who lobbied for it in the first place and it's the French who wanted to retain it. French TV stations don't get to sit at the table when fixtures are being decided it's the FFR that's in favour because it means more exposure and more money for them. I'm sure the players aren't too keen on the idea, but they need to deal with that in France. Personally I hate the Friday night idea, and therefore have no sympathy for them.

So they expect France - England to be the decider eh? We'll show them

If nothing else we get a few more days out to Croker before Aviva stadium brings scarcity and with it, increased prices.

Not one game on a Sunday for us. Can't remember the last time that ever happened.

On a side note, great to see we finish with a home game. Our last game has been away the last 5 years running so it'll be nice to finish up in Croker.

Someone in 'the media' needs a kick up the arse so..

Several radio stations were reporting that the 1st game against Italy would be the first ever game played in the brand new LD Aviva Stadium.

what a pity that friday night game !
But i can see France for the grand slam next year.
The most difficult games (Ireland and England) (revenge) are played at home this year.
Wales and the friday night could be the problem but let's cross the fingers.
I can imagine that nobody wishes a French victory in this forum but i can't see Ireland winning this year cause you play in England and in France.
Anyway good luck to all the teams.

Always thought this year was supposed to be the last in Croker, I was wrong so!

    19:45 (20:45 local) - France v England

Very late KO for the last match of the 6n, 8.45pm local time seems ridiculous. If this match is the decider it will be after 9pm here before we know the winner of the 6n.

But sure that’s not going to be the case, we will have it in the bag after we whip Scotland ;)
