jusy checked the text for betting in the amateurs race today, and the one i think stands out is sonevafushi. He's been running point to point this year and has won 5 from his last 6 races. he finished 4th in this race last year at 11/1,so at 25/1 i'l have a good bet ew.;);)

    Heres my bets today

4.20 Leslingtaylor is my big one. I have backed it at 8's and due to my recent bad run of close seconds, with my NAP bets, I have layed the horse to lose at evens on betfair in the In Running Market.(I would have recouped 3 of my last 4 NAP stakes by doing this) So if its in a close finish and loses I will get my stake back and if it wins I will get 7/1.. This horse has avoided cheltenham and has won 6/7 on galloping flat tracks. He has every condition to suit and will defo win! My only concern which is unavoidable is that the race is competitive with at least four other horses with ability to win at this grade but this horse has also won at this grade and has more positives than the rest.
I have also done the same type of bet with mighty man . Backed at 5s and layed at evens in running. This horse loves this type of track and it trianer/jockey/racetype is 4 from 4. Its between big bucks and mighty man and we know that big bucks likes to battle it out at the finish so unless mighty man is sick or something this is a free 4/1 bet as he'll either comes first or close second

    2.00 mighty man
    2.35 walkon
    3.10 Denman
    3.45 Le Duc E/W
4.20 Leslingtaylor NAP 3 points win 8/1 betfair
    4.55 chapoturgeon
    5.30 SunnyHillboy

A couple of "impossible" races to figure, I'll throw these in the pot for now at e/w prices bar Walkon

    2.00 Mighty Man
    2.35 Walkon
    3.10 Madison Du Berlais
    3.45 Christy Beamish
    4.20 Leslingtaylor
    4.55 Calgary Bay
5.30 Big Eared Fran but its a crap shoot really!

I did this selection as a place bet accu to keep me interested this afternoon.

    You can listen in at

    http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/EN

click radio on the left column.

My selection 2nd, would have won probably but for crashing through the last hurdle.

Big Bucks, Mighty Man, Fair Along

I think Big Bucks was getting there anyway but Mighty Man's mistake at the last cost him any chance he had.

I have done a 2euro Yankee with Big Bucks 2.10, Denman 3.10, Planet of Sound 4.55, and The Package 5.30.

Other Selections, Starluck 2.35, Backstage 3.45, and Valain 4.20.

This race, if you belive the betting is a three horse race

Walkon, Hebridian, Starluck all under 4/1, 13/1 bar.

Em, take any 3.5/1 you can!!!

    He's 5/2

Hebridean is totally that price on hype from Nicholls in the RP this morning, hes against two horses that ran crackers at Cheltenham. He should be fresher but i cant have him. Starluck on the flat track ftw.

    Agree, fancy Startluck myself...

Walkon walks on, Ski Sunday second, Starluck third.

Strange race, cant wait to see the distances and the times. Was Walkon unbelievable or did Starluck and Hebredian not show up??

13L, 13L and possibly the same again back to hebridean, some performance to dispose of the two other fancied ones by 26L and 40L respectively

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 80 ✭✭jpr1973

Even though starluck seemed more suited to flat tracks, he still has only won a grade 4 race this year, whereas walkon has proven black type beside his name and has also handled flat galloping tracks before.. An easy choice (even more so in hindsight!!)

    Hope Denman is ok.

Exotic Dancer jumped poorly, ruined his chance.

    why what happened denman?

Lame after falling at the second last. Looks very bad but they are reporting he is just cut...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭smelltheglove

yeah hopefully he'll be fine,in the next race Blue Teen might be worth an each way bet at 25-1 have heard and seen good things about this horse, but these big races are a monopoly really

I have to say, while these chases are exciting they are pretty brutal even nowadays days. One horse looked like he might have been a goner.

My place bet accu is still alive.

    Trust fund
    Christy Beamish
    Having A Cut
    McEvoy

He's definitely got a chance.Ran very well at Cheltenham and has only had 4 chase starts so can improve but I think he needs to.

Planet of Sound I thought ran a good race in the Arkle over 2m which is too short for him.He has won over 2m2f and the extra 2f today could even suit him a bit more.

My vote goes to Planet of Sound.

Bloody hell Leslingtaylor left it far too late, finished really well from out the back. 4th

    Oh Crick wins well
    Lord Jay Jay

Terrible news about Exotic Dancer and Mel In Blue.

The latter suffered the worse fall I think I have ever seen. Sickening. And yet the BBC thought it fit to replay it in slow motion...

    Awful news about Exotic Dancer.

Let the best horse and man win.Agree about the guilty feeling as well but we all know we will continue to bet unless too many horses are being lost.

And finally my accu comes to an end.

Ah well, just the three and fivefolds to be happy with.
