ok writing alot of electronic tunes at the moment for the fun. all done on protools le 7.4 and im wondering if someone knows a tip that could save me alot of time. for the bass lines i normally go over the tune playing keyboard stick to the root notes. once i have the melody down i go back and as an example for a heavy section or chorus instead of holding the bass note for 1 bar i'd get the pen tool and change the grid to 64th's and fill a note for each 64th, just gives it a bit more drive etc. is there a way to automate this. as in split a midi note into x amonut of midi notes ? ?

Can check the tunes out at www.myspace.com/apocalypsearmymusic first time trying electronics so all advice welcome!

you could use just the one note thru out the song and then automate an arpeggiator to come on during the phrases that you need the 64ths.

    thanks for the reply..
i had thought of that alright but just thought there might be something a bit simpler.i like having the bass line in notation form, not going through sequencers/ arpegiatiors as much as possible.dunno why just find it easier.

well then just create a midi region for the chorus, draw a single 64th note at the region start and "CTRL+D" IT TO THE END OF THE REGION. THEN COPY THE REGION INTO ALL THE AREAS YOU WANT TO HAVE AS THE CHORUS.

    ..sorry bout the caps :pac:

hmm i must be doing something wrong then. tried that but what kept happening was
take for example bar 1. I drew the first 64th note in. when i tried to duplicate or repeat it would duplicate or repeat it onto the 1'st 64th note of bar 2 instead of the 2nd 64th note of bar 1 if ya get me. im sure i'm doing something wrong just not sure what yet

sounds like you have the region highlighted. use the hand tool to just highlight the note and then CTRL+D (also make sure your loop area isnt active or this sometimes will select an antire region)
