A Challenge for mdwexford and RichieLawlor..

In the horse racing forum there are people with varying knowledge and experience, and these people try to contribute by posting their opinions and selections.

It is obvious that both of ye have an interest in horse racing and are knowledgeable about the sport. However in my opinion ye seem very quick to mock and ridicule other people's posts if ye don't agree with them, which is of no value to anyone.

So i propose that the two of ye show your hands and maybe teach us all something in the process.

    The Challenge:

Post 5 selections a week for the next 4 weeks, hopefully turning a profit for a level stake.

    Rules:
Post selections at least 1 hour before the off outlining the reason for your selection

Selections can be spread out over the week, or can run all on the same day, its your choice.

State price at time of selection.

    Prize:
The warm feeling you get from contributing to the forum and sharing your knowledge and experience with the rest of us.

If you don't fancy it, not to worry...... you are under no obligation to prove anything to anyone, but if you don't fancy it maybe you could take it easy on some of the posters on this forum instead.

If i do and succeed does that give me more of a right to be hard on the posters who continually post rubbish:p

Perhaps we could rename the forum after me, or give me mod-like super powers

Corban these two gimps have no knowledge of the sport. There are others on here that spout utter tripe. Who's the fool who put septimus up as a horse to follow for the year? I mean the horse is a multiple group winner. In my opinion a horse to follow means a horse that is unexposed and is likely to improve to be top class not a horse who is already top class.

    What if they fail?
What if md beats richie or vice versa?
Why doesnt the op get another on his team and we have a tipping challenge over d four weeks and the losers doing a forfeift of the winners choice??? or else a juicy side bet!!!!

    Ding ding ding!!!!
    Kauto & Corban v Md & Richie

By the way Kauto Richie didnt put up Septimus as a horse to follow...Look at that thread again!!!!

    First selection from King Kauto

    2 Pts E/W Hernando Royal 12/1 5.30 Aintree

This horse has been knocking on the door in some bigish handicaps this year. He looked the likely winner at the final hurdle at sandown when finishhing fourth to sunnyhillboy who reapposes. The combination of sharper track and quicker ground should bring about more improvement. Trainer also likes to land a punt and i expect this horse to go off at 7 or 8/1.

Lads, no issue with this thread, as long as those "targeted" don't have an issue. But the one thing I do not want to see, is name calling going on (no matter how tongue in cheek it is). It's not a school yard, please try and not let this thread descend into a flame fest.

Most of ye wouldnt be too familiar with me but I'll take part also if ye have no issue with that. It should be open to anybody really IMO.
Whats the stake plan? 1 pt per selection??
    If so I'll have 0.5pt e/w on The Package 5.30 Aintree 12/1

This is an interesting horse, one I had earmarked for a big bet in the Festival Plate in Cheltenham prior to him being pulled out. I have also read that Dave Nevison was keen on him for Cheltenham. LTO he was unlucky to be beaten by a well in horse. Very interesting to see him go back to hurdles. He will jump and stay, and the ground will suit. 12/1 is too good to leave go.

i've no problem if anyone wants to join in but, i think we shouldn't drift too much from the original post.......

we can see if anyone produces a profit from level stakes.....

and yes RichieLawlor if u pull it off you will be king of the boards and free to rule as u wish.....:D (well as much as hobart lets u :p)

I have no issue with the thread Hobart, i do have an issue with being called a gimp by some keyboard warrior with 30 posts thats no one knows but anyway.

Ive no interest in crappy weekday racing or flat racing so this isnt really suitable but i will give selections over Aintree for the next 3 days if that helps.

2.35 - Starluck 5/2 - strong traveller, back on a flat track, if the festival didnt take too much out of him looks sure to go well.

3.10 - Exotic Dancer 10/3 - Some question marks over Denman still in my eyes and if there are any chinks in the armour this is the one to take advantage, has ran well in the race before, again a strong traveller, i expect a big run.

4.20 - Poquelin 7/1 - Ran a stinker at the festival but with more prominent tactics expected today and perhaps a track that suits better should see him in a better light, still should be on a nice weight as being a novice the handicapper hasnt got a grip on him yet.

4.55 - Planet Of Sound 10/3 - Has shown a liking for flat tracks and ran a good race in the Arkle, the fav won a handicap off a low weight albeit very impressively and is vulnerable in my opinion.

4.55 Ain...Calgary Bay. time to sh*t or get off the pot with this one. 2.4m on good ground and a good gallop should be right up this lads street.
    1pt win

How American Trilogy is favourite for the novice hurdle tomorrow is beyond me, same as Chapoturgeon today, massively under priced on the back of a handicap win at the festival.

    Herecomesthetruth looks a solid bet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 823 ✭✭✭Kauto

Richie talks some sense with American Trilolgy but lets himself down with his selection. Herecomesthetruth is as quirky as they come and even though it is one o the worst graded chases i have seen in a long time, he would be a lay for me.

My best bet of the day is Voy por. Nacarat is a plodder and if voy por cant beat him he may aswell retire. 6/4 looks a gift.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I'm guessing its a reaction to him bolting up at Chelters at 20/1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,431 ✭✭✭Morgans

Before we get all very confident about laying American Trilogy - he would have to give upwards of 11lbs to all if it was a handicap. As it stands he has to give 8lbs to Sommersby (a horse that I for one dont trust)

Not sure why winning the County hurdle by 12l should be seen as so definitely inferior to finishing 3rd or 6th in the supreme as some would suggest on here.

AT may not be good enough, but the idea that because Chapoturgeon didnt win today as support for the claim are ridiculous. Chapoturgeon didnt last long enough to prove anyone who had an opinion on him right or wrong today. I think there are very few who have any chance of beating AT tomorrow, and I dont see those who ran in the Supreme as the biggest dangers.

is this your first selection at SP?

The banker of the day is Red Moloney in the first. Just have a look at what a decent class Flat animal can do on a flat track (his win at Musselburgh) to see that this will win doing handsprings. Speed to burn.

Some good points, id rate AT run better than either of the Supreme Novices horses for sure, Racing Post Ratings agree also btw.

Red Moloney on a flat track does have potential though.

Nacarat is too short, now im not saying he wont win cause he must have a chance but jumping from handicap company into genuine Grade 1 is a big ask and there is no value in his price.

Saying that Voy Por is also a bit short with a few questions marks. Still the most likely winner though. Tidal Bay seems to be fed up with the game but on his best form would go close. Petit Robin is only here because Henderson sees no point in taking on MasterMinded and i feel this is more a fact finding mission as to whether he will stay this trip in good company.

The one ive landed on is Briarieus, ran well in the King George but didnt get home and didnt have the pace to go with MasterMinded but ran a great race before coming down in the QMCC. I think the track going and trip will suit and i give him a good each way shout.

I wont be backing anything in the opening novice, American Triology may win but too short imo. I agree that Red Maloney has a chance if producing his best. Edit to say AT price is becoming interesting.

As i said before i like Herecomesthetruth, horse is quirky but undoubtedly talented, Massinis Maguire just refuses to win.

I wont be steaming into anything in the Topham but a samll each way bet on New Little bric hoping that he takes to the fences but i dont really have a fancy.

I think Karabak is a good bet in the 3 miler, staying on all the way to the line in the Ballymore, although i think the winner was ideling, this extra 3 furlongs will suit him fine and i think he will take all the beating.

Ill throw a dart at Captain Americo in the Handicap Hurdle, no real fancy in this but i was quite taken by this ones win round Kempton, flat sharp track will suit and better the further he went.

Quick selections because racing is starting.

1.30 - Red Moloney ew 9/2 - Flat track should suit, not a great race.

2.35 - Massini's Maguire 5/2 - Should reverse form with the fav if he puts in a clear round of jumping.

3.10 - Petit Robin ew 10/1 - Trying to make a race of it with Master Minded cost him second place in the Champion Chase, nothing of that calibre in this, not sure how hes this big a price, should be second fav.

4.20 - Karabak 7/4 - Cant see him being beaten, was just touched off in the Ballymore, nothing of that standard in this, a reproduction of that will see him win here.

Just came across this thread and i remember the 2 boys names - i think they are the same 2 that slated me for opposing Binoculor in the Champion Hurdle - good to see their tips are winning:p

Hardly, when you come to wrong conclusion every race. Whats it now 0 from 14 at Aintree? Nice.

LOL - i am delighted this thread is happening as it shows that you know f all about horse racing - all you do is post sly and degrading remarks to other posters. Look at your record - you are a joke - give me a horse for the National tomorrow so i can scratch him and btw i am putting up Rambling Minster - go on post some derogatory remarks about my choice since that is all you are good for.

Ive mentioned 8 horses. are you stupid? do you think races work out how you expect all the time. Ive given reasons why i think the horse has a chance and they just havent been good enough or ran below form, how does that mean i know more or less about form or racing in general.

How does it show that, see above.

Look at my record? im doing this for fun, im not losing money on these horses. How does this prove i know nothing about racing, do you know anything about form. I dont post sly and degrading remarks, if someone posts rubbish i tell them. There are several good posters on here whom i may disagree with at times but at least they make reasoned arguments on their horses behalf.

edit - And Hobart you can clearly see im not the one whos started the flaming here or name calling or any of this rubbish. Im happy to let the thread run, i just wont reply to the clueless people anymore.

No but at least some of the time might give your opinion a slight degree of credibility! Very slight i might add.

And delete your edit. You've been banned before for insulting people because they've little more than an adverse opinion. Take it like a man:p
