ip= ip of address of dreambox you can give one to your own box within range have to get that yourself
    netmask: 255.555.555.0
nameserver and gateway ip address of your router
    dhcp - unchecked x
    enable netowrk = checked tick
    save and do reboot

Give your box the IP 192.168.1.XXX (10 to 200 is normal)
Check your IP of router by going to Network Properties on your computer and it's in the support tab. Default Gateway usually 192.168.1.1

You only need your real IP address if you are connecting to you "other" box (not in your house). You'll need to setup a DYNDNS account to do this with a dynamic or static ip address.

    thnks guy for reply
    @tomslick
i hear what u are saying.....

Magnets router (telsey) you cannot communicate with in any shape or form... they are locked ......

For a static IP address Magnet tell me i have to open a Business account....

To comminicate with an "other" box on a basic level (i.e rerad only) surely a standard Dynamic IP address would be ok???

The box is communicating with the internet on my 87.198xxxx

Do you actually have a router or is it a modem? You don't need a static WAN IP address (87.x.y.z) for using the box within your own LAN.

its a telsey Modem with 4x lan ports.....

Wondering if you've got a DHCP server in the picture. What IP address does your PC generally get?

just an update on this and thanks to guys who helped....

i had to get a separate router and then i got a 192.xxxx address from the dream box, from this i was able to access to Dreambox and modify the ccam, all works fine now,
also now the box doesn't need a 192.000 address anymore the Dynamic ip is fine, but i did need the 192.xxx static IP address to set up the box.....

I know nothing about the Dreambox but for a networked device this does not look like a valid subnet mask!

Might has missed the subscription update on this.

That address is a public IP address. Devices with these addresses are exposed to the Internet. Ensure you're running a good firewall on your computers.

You need a router to do NAT so you have one public IP address and several private addresses behind it.

yep, it would very likely be c class network so /24 is norm for home setup
