Just tried the new 3mb stream out on my TV. Perfect picture quality and genuinely very close to TV standard. Good job MLB Advanced Media (for once!)

Nice! Does it give you all games for the season?

It's pretty sweet, though the default size is too large for netbooks (BOOOOO!!!)

unreal quality!! however it chewed a new one into my hard drive lol. 3 innings into the game last night and i had only 100mgs left :) I imagine the broadband download limit will take a hit over the course of a season too!

There were some serious issues last night as Opening Day got underway and their servers were probably deluged with subscribers. I really wish they would prepare for big days like this better. I'd been looking forward all winter to the Cubs season starting yesterday, and I totally missed Soriano's leadoff homer and Ramirez's homer. There were video and audio issues all night. I know they will resolve them eventually (I've been subscribing for years and every new upgrade has teething problems which eventually get solved), but this was very very annoying nonetheless.

zuutroy, how do you connect the signal to your TV? Does the audio go through the TV as well or just the video picture? Can you use your PC for anything else while the game is on, or do you have to leave the stream running "on top"?

Jays game streamed fine for me :)

I just run a VGA cable from my laptop output to the TV and use the TV as the primary display, then full screen the mlb.tv window. You could set it up as a dual monitor setup, then you'd be able to use your laptop and just have the video playing on the TV. I did this in previous years. The problem with that this year is that flash exits full screen mode whenever you click outside the screen, making it useless!

Yeah the stream for the yankees game last night was MUCK!. It was constantly behind and then jumped at bats. I switched to the normal def stream and it was much better. A slightly jumpier stream but much more watcheable.

I had thought it might be my connection but I streamed the phillies game on high def the day before and it was immaculate. Me thinks opening day rush got to their system!

Have you guys noticed problems with the signal quality option, where you can turn off auto-adjust?? Even after I unchecked that box it kept adjust to the highest level. That was unbelievably annoying.

I found the sound badly out of sync for the Mets-Reds game, until it righted itself somewhere in the 2nd inning. Other than that, no complaints.

...although SNY (the Mets channel in the US) left the mics on during an inter-inning break and I was treated to the commentators joking about the upcoming AFLAC quiz question and talking about topics they were going to discuss during the next inning...

    Funny Stuff.

 Still too costly and still with some flaws. Guess I will wait another year and stick to my USA satelite to pickup NESN/Red Sox games.... maybe next year.

Im thinking about buying it, Do you all have the season package? Im broke at the minute so I was going to pay by month and see how it goes!

I just pay by the month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,322 ✭✭✭Mad_Max

I have the yearly. It worked out at like 80euro for the yearly when i bought (dollar might have changed) and I got espn insider for a year.... cant beat that at all!

Does it not work out more expensive to go by the month zuutroy? or are there months when you wont watch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

I suppose it works out a bit dearer, I started in 02-03 and each year they just debit my card again starting in April and I don't really notice it each month....suppose I should change really.

Don't worry if you had problems over the last couple of nights, MLBAM usually have problems with .TV early in the season but they get ironed out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,322 ✭✭✭Mad_Max

Yeah think it was the same last year, or maybe it was the year before there was a new player and it was buggy at the start but flawless throughout the season on a whole.

Condensed games are now up for the games two days. Support say they'll be fully functional for the previous games in a day or two.

Is it possible to have the Blackout restriction removed if you are watching from Ireland?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,322 ✭✭✭Mad_Max

Theres no restrictions for international countries i believe. Certainly haven't had any problems watching any game from Ireland.

Must get my profile updated so. Yankees game tonight is blacked out for me...

That's strange. Most users report that black outs are based on IP address. FOr example, a US-based subscriber travelling abroad should be able to watch, even though they'd be blacked out at home.

Is there anything funky with your Internet access - like you're on a corporate network with a proxy server in the US - anything like that?

You definitely shouldn't be getting a blackout message in Ireland. Even Peter Angelos couldn't argue that one...

Might seem a stupid question. Whats the name of cable used to link laptop to the TV to show the game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Just a standard VGA cable. Most LCD TV's come with them now. HDMI would be better but I haven't got around to buying one.
