I've given up on the GH franchise, and not a fan of Metallica, just not that metal in general.

Curious about the Expert plus mode or whatever it is. The thing tha tbugged me about GHIII was that they seemed to make songs needlessly hard, adding in extra notes and stuff to the charts, so was wondering if they just completely screw it up with expert plus mode? I mean especially for drums. I mean in Rock Band in almost every case on expert you're playing every beat in the song, so how do they do expert plus without adding in extra beats that aren't there?

Chin. Have you got the Double Bass?

And @ NotorietyH can't find picture. They have two bass pedals, which are used in E+

I presume you can use either as the bass in all the others.

Expert+ just adds the double bass notes, nothing else.

Ah cool, that makes sense. I see the cases of early onset arthritis rising dramatically in the near future!

This is actually very forgiving(just completed it on hard.Cant even beat GH3 on hard :D). They learned that too hard means no fun.
I think for Expert+ you actually play every note instead of expert. The double bass is needed for it since a lot of metallicas songs use it excesively anyway

I haven't played a GH game since III, obsessed with Rock Band and I can't see myself swapping out discs to play or two songs I'm interested in on another disc when I have over 400 for Rock Band at the moment.

Must be cool for Metallica fans having a whole game dedicated to their favourite band, while I sit here waiting for a solitary Eels song to make it to Rock Band lol. That would make me buy a GH game, if they had Eels and Rock Band didn't.

I'm still waiting for Guitar Hero: Village People before I'm completely satisfied.

I would kill may many people for just one Eels song in Rock Band. Them and Supergrass would make my year.

That is awesome. The chorus is fantastic. This song would be great in Rock Band.

Yeah I was thinking that too, I may plague them with emails asking them to put it in for the album release date, a whole Eels pack would be so awesome!

Saturday Morning would be pretty damn fun in it too. Started learning the real drum about 6 months ago after Rock band got me into it, and Saturday Morning was one of the first songs I learnt. E doesn't strike me as the kind of person who'd let his music be used for a video game though. *sigh*

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but it's rare enough to meet another Eels fan lol!

Has anyone got the official EU release of Rock Band 2 yet for PS3 ? It was released this week. I know you can import RB2 from the US but then there's the issue with downloadable content possibly not working due to different regions. I may splash out on it this weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭NotorietyH

I saw Rock band 2 in HMV I think it was here in Cork. US DLC won't work with the EU release and vice-versa, and neither will the export codes, so make sure you get whichever version of RB2 corresponds with your copy of RB1

I bought it last Friday on release day and its awesome. Huge improvement over RB1 in the interface, selection & touring modes.
Have all my RB1 songs imported into it (for €3.50) along with the DLC I've bought already.
Its selling for €52.99 in HMV.

Quick question. One major gripe I have with RB1 is that you cannot select a load of songs to play in one session like you can do in say GHWT. So much time is wasted waiting to go back to the song screen, picking another one, loading that blah blah etc. Can you queue songs in RB2 ? If so, I'll be popping to the shops tomorrow.

Yes you can, you can make your own setlist, dunno how many songs max but I added over 15 songs to one setlist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭NotorietyH

It's safe to say that anything that annoyed you about RB1 is rectified in RB2. It's near perfect. There's actually more to do in single player in RB2 than there was multiplayer in RB1

Does GH: Metallica require drums and stuff?

Play.com have this stated: Requires a compatible drum, microphone or guitar controller to play (sold separately)

I just want to play the guitar like in GH3. Also does my GH3 guitar work with it?

Two questions. Can you just rent RB1 and use the code on the rented disc? And will any RB1 DLC be carried over using the €3.49 Code, or is it carried over automatically, or not at all?

    Cheers,
    ~giggsy

Yes you can just borrow or rent RB1 and buy the export key for €3.49 and have all but 3 songs from RB1 in Rock Band 2.

All DLC for Rock Band is for use in any past or future Rock Band games. Its not tied to any version of Rock Band.

AFAIK, GH:Metallica is going to be a standalone title with a dual-bass pedal being the only accessory for sale with it.

You can use any GH & Rock Band equipment with the game, I believe all the licensing issues have been ironed out.

Would have been nice if they brought out a metallica guitar with it in the shape of an explorer or somehing.
Are all the guitars out basically the same or do any have advantages over others?

The ghwt guitar is bigger than all the others, and has a touch sensitive bar where the solo buttons were, which sort of acts as a back-up strum

Was in gamestop and saw that they are giving away a second kick pedal when you reserve the game..
