    Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked before but is there a website that compares the prices per Gb of the various broadband providers? I presume there are no capless providers left in ireland ...

In case anyone's interested here are my figures from Digiweb:

product rate (Mbps) cap (Gb/month) Price (€) price per GB (€)
    Metro Home 8 30 40 1.33
    Metro Home + 8 40 46 1.15
    Metro Xtra 12 50 60 1.2
    Metro Xtra + 12 70 70 1

UPC dont have a cap if you get their 10 or 20 mb line.

Smart Telecom do not have a cap either and also don't filter any traffic {expect port 25 SMTP } unlike UPC

    Cool, thanks for the replies.

Also I hadn't realised Bt's 24Mb package has no cap!

I'm wondering if a fair use policy could actually result in lower limits than when you pay up front for you're 70Gb a month for example.

Has anyone managed to go beyond some providers fair use policy and got any figures to post ?

    Thanks for the link Cabaal.

Technologies such as http://oneswarm.cs.washington.edu/ should ensure that the percentage of "heavy" users continues to go up, despite the eircoms of this world. ;-)

BTs "unlimited" cap appears to be 100GB in a rolling 30 day period.

i think upcs fair use is around 250gb a month

UPC have the highest 'unlimited' package.

However, UPC filter quite alot of services, torrents are a big hit.

I would go with Smart if I were you. It is the smartest thing to do :P

However Smart do have a FUP policy too. It's not absolutely unlimited. But is genuinely large.

I switched from Digiweb to Airwire about a month ago. No cap.
Went from 40 euro for 40Gb to 45 euro for no limit.
    Went down/up from 6mb (8 claimed)/512kb to 2mb/2mb.

All I can say is: well worth it: no cap, no fup.
