My speakers are working fine but I am getting no sound when I turn on the speakers. I think I might have problems with the sound card on the PC. Is there a test I can do to verify this. Can anyone suggest any other reasons why I have no sound. Thanks

sound muted on the pc? check the volume levels buy clicking the speaker icon in the system tray or in sound in control panel.

Another possibility is that the sound card isn't installed in the OS.

Check in Device Manager for any items with '!' or '?'

Check out the cards make and model download updated drivers
plug in headset instead to check
make sure you don't have anything muted on advanced settings and that everything is up on volume.
i had one creative card option that i had accidently ticked something like use only digital output which had muted everything else.
try plug your speakers into your ipod.

Have you got them plugged into the right socket? I had a problem with speakers not working and that was the problem ...

    Thanks Gamer,
i tried your first option and the "state" was running and the "start mode" was auto. On your 2nd option when I put in msconfig the status was "running". On your 3rd option, I had 6 or 7 headings under the "sound, video and game controllers" section. I tried the properties of all the headings and it told me the device was working ok. I didnt try the troubleshoot option yet. Are all the above findings as they should be. If not, have you any more suggestions, Thanks again
Speakers are working fine. I tried a second set and had the same result. I tried updating drivers and it told me the ones I had were fine. HELP HELP HELP HELP
