    Hi all
I got my new upc branded card yesterday morning.
I'm on the old small pace box.

I did the changeover about 2pm, all was up and running about 2hours later.

With the new card in and a cold reboot, an error popup box with the code 1008 came on screen, I just hit the ok button and it went to buzzTV.

Most of the channels were missing/ skipped, or not subscribed to, for about half an hour.

The EPG is still the same
The software version may have changed, line 2 on the help has changed.

I just did the callback, today, its automated and took about a 2 minutes.
Maybe they will change the epg to the new one when all the updates take place?

    All working as normal now;)

2 hours? You should look for a credit because of missed viewing!

Is there any reason they can't pre-provision the cards? It seems terribly inefficient that you have to call and then wait.

Yeah I'm not sure why I had to ring them.
All is working since the change-over yesterday.

I left calling them till to-day, just to make sure all was ok.
Maybe they will update the box and EPG at a later stage.

did the new card arrive in the post or does a technician have to install them?

You are advised to do it overnight while not using the box.

Wait for what? 2 minutes if not less to confirm the card works on an automated answer service.

Christ this place is getting worse by the day.

I have two boxes, one the DVR. Only one card arrived two days ago, took less then 2 hours for the channels to come back.

Ah now, let's be realistic here. The info TV guy says to do it overnight as it may take 6 hours and then you may have to call if it's not working.

I worked on a roll out of a large system once. We set it up so replacing the old part instantly cancelled the old part. I see no reason UPC can't get it together and do things like this. Pre-provisioning is nothing fancy and is simple common sense.

They have to overkill with teh up to 6 hours.

It should take considerably less time, but in rare cases it could.

Took about 5 mins for me.

That's pretty good to know. I assume you had to call them?

At least it doesn't take 6 hours but working in software, I just see it as another badly thought out process by them.

No, the DVR one is blue and different. :)

Thank ****. Am considering uprading and think I would have to remove my eyes to use that.

The one thing that worked better was the Now and Next, you could see what was on for many programmes ahead by scrolling down whereas on the DVR it only shows what is on immediately next and you're forced to use the TV Guide to see what's on later.

You see everything they do as a badly thought out process, we're yet to see a complaint about card swap. Anyway I thought you were getting a communal dish installed in your apartment?

Now dual record that's a badly thought out process.

What have they done to that is good? Forgive me if I think in this day and and age a card swap can be automated with pre-provisioned cards, I have worked for big companies who do this but UPC won't. At least they're not insisting on sending engineers this time. It's good to hear that they seemingly only take two minutes but having to call them is pointless, a waste of everyone's time on a badly planned system. So I ask, why should they be given a compliment for anything?

Still working on the dish, I have a meeting with the board of the building in two weeks about it.

No it isn't, it's a bad product that doesn't even work. Again, where do they have any examples of a well thought out process?

A card can't be "pre-provisioned" Completey with certain kinds of box / card pairing. Even with Sky the card is finalised in the box.

I know there's another thread running on it, but I've used dual record twice in recent days, and it's very simple. If something is being recorded already, the DVR merely prompts you to put it into standby.

    Worked perfectly for me anyway.:)

The problem with dual record is not that its not simple its that it is very very limited. Why should you have to go to standby and why can't you use the guide to do dual recordings?
