Before you suggest it, I don't think it's an April Fools' prank, as the post was made on the 29th.

A recent study has suggested that playing shoot-'em-up video games may improve certain aspects of eyesight.

It is sort of refreshing to see an article that doesn't condemn video games as evil and the precursor of the end of the world as we know it.
Anyone who has played video games for too long is probably familiar with the sore, tired and dry eyes that accompany extended bouts of shooting things with rocket launchers.
    :D

Makes sense, since in quite a lot of FPS you have to be able to quickly spot enemies at range or in cover.

They also apparently did wonders for my hand-eye coordination, but that's kind of a given.

I keep seeing cross-hairs in the centre of my vision... maybe there's too much of a good thing.

Mr Pot, what you're saying is that they're pretty much boardsies with better eyesight...and hand-eye co-ordination?

Did you just call Pighead, Mr Pot? Pigheads been called many nasty names in his past but never before has he been compared to a ruthless Cambodian dictator.

Listen Karoma, Pighead isn't being hypocritical in the slightest here. 100% of Gamers are geeks and thats just the way it is. Boards whilst populated with a scattering of geeks (who are mostly gamers as well) has a much higher percentage of norms and hygienic people. As Bruce Hornsby once horribly sang " That's just the way it is"

Don't joke about that, I went on a Tetris binge once and had nightmares for weeks, I couldn't close my eyes without seeing those horrible coloured blocks.

    ..I wish I was joking. :(

I thought porn on your laptop was the number one 'improver' for eye to hand co-ordination.

I thought that said your eye sight had gone to the dogs from too many FAPS 12hr binges, I guess I'm still the only one then :(

Impossible scenario. For Pighead to have been raped by a gamer one of two things would have to happen:
1/ Pighead would have to enter into said gamers basement.
2/ Gamer would have to leave his basement.

Neither of those things have ever happened.

there was a study before that indicated that juggling causes your brain to grow in the area associated with visual processing: Possibly playing shooting games has a similar effect on your brain rather than on your eyes.

If there was any truth to this I'd have X-Ray vision at this stage.

Nope its bonafide. The research is a few years old at this stage. One of the top studies graded 2 groups of Surgeons over time and found that the surgeons that regularly played video games performed surgery better than their counterparts, due to improved hand-eye coordination.
