Amazon VAT question

    I have a question about the vat on Amazon.

    Do they charge you vat from your country or theirs, as i trying out the shopping cart & got the following below:

    Price: £33.98 / £35.90? price changes up & down before checkout


    Order Summary
    Amazon.co.uk Order Summary
    Items: £29.55
    Postage & Packing: £1.88

    Total before VAT: £31.43
    VAT: £6.75
    Order Total: £38.18

    XE.COM 38.18 GB = 41.3577 EUR

    An incredibly simple calculation shows that you are charged 21.5% Vat

    Amazon have a FAQ section and Vat is covered there
