I'm a postgrad student looking into doing the postgraduate law degree in NUIG or UL, however, i noticed there is a one year LLB in UCC and was wondering what the difference is? is an LLB an LLB or is their a difference in a one year/two year LLB?

Well the LLB in Cork is basically any four law subjects of your choice along with a thesis of about 8,000 words. It seems to be mostly law students who do them in order to get a broader degree or help them get into a masters, but if you've never done law before I suppose it gives you a good grounding. The only difference between a one year and a two year would be the number of subjects studied as far as I can see but I couldn't tell you for sure.

I'm currently on the 1yr LLB. I do 5 subjects and for about 6 weeks you have to do Legal Research and Methodology which is compulsory. We were given the choice of the 8,000 disertation or you could pick another subject instead. The choice of subjects available is really wide, I was given the option of studying subjects which would never would have been available to me at the college where I did my undergrad in law e.g. medical law, enivironmental.
    Hope this helps!

That really helps thanks so much!
I don't know if I could even get on to the LLB in UCC as I only have one year law experience (currently doing the PG dip in law at DIT) but its worth a try!
I'm not keen on going to Galway because id never get home on weekends its so far away, and I could have gone to Limerick this year but chose the course im doing now instead and id feel like this year was a waste, at least galway will let me into second year i guess!

It's a great course with fantastic support if you put in the effort and keep up all year you you will be fine- def go for it even if you think you dont have enough law experience you will still be well able :)
