does anyone know if i can buy a cable which can connect my laptop to the TV? The TV is about 4 years old so the only connections are two SCART ports at the back and the yellow, white and red connectors at the front.

    cheers

I was recommended this one by someone in Bargain Alerts, came pretty quickly and is a snip at $2.50 with free shipping. Works very well - I have an older laptop and i assume yours too works with S-video cables

    Theres two possibilites

To watch you laptop on the tv screen
you will need the cable already shown or something similar if you dont have an svideo port on the laptop then you will need a vga to composite video converter on ebay there around 20e

To watch the tv screen on the laptop you will need a composite video to usb device again on ebay for around 10e and quaility is pretty decent recorded the grand slam match and quaility is pretty good.

thanks for your replies guys. I have a Toshiba A60 which is about 5 years old. It has a 4 pin S-Video jack, so the cable on the deal extreme website looks like it will do the job for me.

    cheers

the cable arrived in the post this morning. when everything is connected up I am getting a blank screen (with no sound) on my TV. I have toggled the active display device button on the keyboard but no joy.

can anyone advise me on how to resolve this?

    cheers

I have used the Function Key + F5 (active display device changer) but no joy...... The message "No Video Input" appears on the TV screen. I have also restarted the laptop, while connected to the TV but that hasn't worked either.

Would the solution be to get a SCART adaptor, to which I could connect the red, yellow and white cables?

does anyone else have a solution?

    cheers

Second this: it's the dogs bo||ox. Once installed, the ATI program saw my TV (TV is about 10 years old, I'd say), and I was able to view my stuff on it.

DOWNLOAD ,riva tuner this may help in tuning setting s output modes for your graphics card,
on winxp, i had 3 laptops,i had to get POWERSTRIP installed inorder to get the res DOWN to sdtv pal,576 ,otherwise the picture was crap ,RES WAS TOO high for sdtv ,depends what card you have, what grahics driver software is installed, on VISTA notebooks theres is
USUALLY proper graphics drivers installed, whereas you just go to graphics propertys set tv output on,set res 720x576.press fn plus tv f5
NOT every1 wants to run vista ,eg on a p4 laptop with 1gig ram, winxp is twice as fast ,vistas designed for dual core cpus ,ideally with 2gig ram .
MY PC is dual core turon x2 1,5 ghz , i still run xp cos its faster,it should not be
necessary to run ps on a vista pc unless you wanna setup very specific custom
res like 700x400 ,ps has a number of unique functions, its not just 4 tv outputpost back here laptop model eg toshiba 510x ,graphics card type,eg geforce 250.

hi guys, I followed extend to tv instructions and it worked (Aldi selling cable kit for 8.99). however when I booted up the next day to watch a movie a pop up screen asked me to select type of output (I think), I selected Line Output and now I still have image on tv but black&white and no sound. Stupid of me I know, normally I just close these windows. Any advice?
