    Hi
I getting ready to launch an online ecommerce store in the next few weeks. I need to be able to show my customers how much postage will cost on the checkout page.
I'm having trouble getting rates from any of the courier companies apart from Fastway who have them displayed on their own site.

If I'm delivering less than 10 parcels per week they charge €15/box plus vat. I'm certain that it will be months before I'm selling over ten orders per week. Most companies here seem charge a flat rate of €10 for deliveries in Ireland, so how are they doing this?

Assuming that some companies are sending out hundreds of packages/week they are obviously getting a better rate.
Also, short of weighing everything that may be ordered from my site how would I calculate postage with An Post?

Any tips or advice in this area would be appreciates. Im based in the north west.
    Thanks

    Hi NW.

We subsidise shipping on orders and charge a flat rate of €4.99.

Our thinking is that a high shipping charge can be a huge deterrent to customers... especially if there's a chance they can get what you're selling on the high street. High shipping charges are also a deterrent to customers who may want to place a small order.

For smaller orders, you might want to look at an post and use a courier company for larger orders.

    Hope that's of some help.
