Burnt out cars on Military Road between Killakee & Glencree...

Went out for a spin to Glencree yesterday and counted no less than 4 burnt out cars that had been driven up here to be burnt out. One was at the entrance to the Hell Fire Club Car Park, another one was down along the featherbeds and another two just before Glencree. I mentioned this to a mate because these cars were not there last week and he reckons they are all insurance jobs. I've definitely noticed a big increase in the number of burnt out motors up this way lately, it isn't just the 4 cars I've referred to above, it is usual now to see a car burnt out up there that wasn't there previously.

Is this what people are doing now when they cannot sell their motor???:confused::confused:

Insurance companies have now copped on to the racket of torching cars for claims. I believe they are now replacing cars with identical models purchased at bank repossession compounds rather than paying out cash.

Actually, I've heard a few and saw a case of this.

I live in D24 and there has been a huge increase in joyriding. I know 2 people that have had their cars stolen and burned lately. Both company cars.

A lot of this is down to the scrotes not having jobs either

Was a huge amount of "stolen and burnt out" cars just before the NCT came in I remember... now its probably for the cash.

Given what they do for fun, is it surprising that nobody is employing them?

I to have heard of this for insurance claims.

Heard of on woman in limerick burning her X5 out. Only for the insurance company investigator to request the keys from her stolen car. When they got the key they downloaded the info and low and behold the trip distance on its last startup and stop equated to the distance from her house to the burnt out car.

She broke down and confessed and is now facing criminal charges.

Second hand story so not sure if info can be taken from Key?

I work in recovery and the past few months we're doing a lot more of this typre of work. burn outs and attempted theft. You'd be amazed the amount of burn outs in peoples own gardens and thefts where the thief just happened to have the spare key.
