What a fantastic night
First off thanks to the Warehouse lads for hosting a great event. Professionally run as usual and brilliantly marshalled as I would come to expect from the lads.
Secondly a huge thanks has to go to both the Nci and Dcu players. They conducted themselves greatly and were not only a tribute to their colleges but to the game of airsoft. Fair play, honour..when people made genuine mistakes with blind fire or double hits they were straight up apologising. And there was great sportsmanship and banter throughout.
The teams were split into four, NCI A and B and DCU A and B. The start off was one team against the other.
I was team A, and we went up against DCU in Attack the Jenny. We held out admirably for 7 minutes before losing. I was impressed with the lads play right off the bat, considering most of them are new to airsoft, and some never playing before.
The teams swopped sides, and 40 seconds in the Jenny was took. I think Brian said it was a new record, I was literally monitoring the play, and the whistle went, I thought someone was injured but one of the lads comes back shouting and I couldnt believe it.
It put NCI a firm 1-0 up.
The B teams began to play, and they were well fought. The NCI lads put up a heroic defence before been taking down. The teams swopped with NCI attacking, who were going great until one player got a rush of blood, and ran under the tower to blind fire up the hole, so it was a DQ for NCI and the game was now tied 1-1.
The following games were losers V losers. This was a bomb game. Another intense game, but NCI came straight out of the blocks to take an aggresive command of the game. The bomb was planted after a lovely stacking advancing manouvre to take the game 2-1 to NCI.
Following this, the NCI A team faced off against the DCU B team. It was king of the hill, with teams having to control a room for a total of 5 minutes. The game was hard fought, with some funny incidents. My epic slide into the room was caught on film and I look forward to seeing it. Along with a few flanking manouvres. Ultimately DCU took the game after some solid defence and the game was now tied at 2-2.
Now came the final game, winner taking home the victory. 15 vs 14 Hostage. The game started off with the NCI lads holding firmly back in their base letting the enemy come to them, and it paid off beautifully with NCI capturing plastic axe, a viper player with DCU and one of their strongest. With this player down, and DCU looking on the back foot, I called out for NCI to push foward, however I was left alone and after taking out three players in a Unit style assault, I was wrongfully pulled a few feet, to the view of the enemy who easily captured me.
The game was furious with serious casualties on both sides. And close to the end I saw 2 more NCI hostages join me to make a total of four and I thought we lost it, but in a daring raid, the NCI players assaulted the middle, capturing a number of DCU players to end the game with one more hostage.
So NCI win the first intervarsity airsoft event and wow was it a good one.
Congratulations to all who took part, it was a great spirited game and I firmly look forward to the next games.
Personally I was chuffed with the win, the lads showed great play and honour, for mostly players who do not play airsoft it was joyous to watch. And now that I've beaten DCU in poker,football,golf and now airsoft, I think I'm going to join the Tiddlywinks society and realy give them a licking.

i'm still sick about that last game!! :P that'll teach me to rush :rolleyes:
the skill and honesty was top notch on both sides, couldn't fault anyone.
looking forward to the rematch... maybe fingal next time??
