Sallins park and ride

I haven't used the train from Sallins since last year and was down there this morning in the local Supervalu. What I noticed is that the underground car park that used to be for the train commuters is now closed but the above ground car park around the shops/apartments was full presumably with commuters cars. However, none of them appeared to have a ticket for parking that I thought was the norm around that area. Is this now free parking or is it a form of mass protest against the parking charges? Also why is the underground car park now closed - vandalism, crime etc?

I plan on using the train on Thursday and would like to know what the situation is with the park and ride - thanks.

I heard the underground car park has closed because it has flooded. So that problem has to be rectified.

    vandalism, crime etc?

    .

both the above....and failure of car park owner (developer) to rectify and failure of Kildare county council to issue enforcement notice as they are now not fulfilling the terms of the original planning application

I got the train this morning and noticed that the "Supervalu" car park was pretty full of cars none of which appeared to have a ticket. I went into Supervalu and I think there were only 3 people shopping in there so I guess the cars outside belong to commuters. The train car park itself was only about 2/3 full so is there de facto "free parking" now in place at Sallins?
