someone in my family is using a very simple rule.

10K Km for every year since the car was purchased otherwise its a bad deal.

so they would consider a car from 2000 with 70.000 Km a good deal and a car from 2000 with 120Km they would touch.

would it not depend on the car make, petrol diesel, etc?

or do you have any other guidelines as such to make your selection in car?

its simple, if a car has been well maintained all its life and looked after within reason mileage should'nt really be too much of an issue.

the question proably what is reasonable and when?

I think 12-15k is reasonable mileage on a petrol car (thats miles by the way) some mite disagree, 20k for a diesel. But people do a lot more mileage these days!! Engines are built better and have a longer life span. Again its to do with the general maintanance of the vehicle.

Price v. quality of car. If both are good, then it's definitely a good deal. :D

Mileage is one thing, but condition and service history are more important.

Way too much for a car like that unless you are going to keep it for a long time. Alot of people say they will keep it but the plan changes and they dont. 100,000kms is fast becoming the new 100,000 miles in peoples head. Me thinks you'll never sell that car for proper money with another 20-30k on it in 2 years time so unless you get it alot cheaper than that I think Id be keepin my money
