There's possibly some setting like RDS on a radio where it takes the time from and there's no proper system in Ireland, I'd imagine there's some option to disable it but I wouldn't have a breeze where to look on a Mercedes, possibly try google or some merc owners forum.

The GPS would indeed give an accurate time. Accurate to many fractions of a second.. Assuming it was set to that. I'd say enter the menu system on the GPS, but of course read the owners manual first.

sorry lads, when i said gps i meant the one in space!i dont have a sat-nav..there is some sort of reciever built into the vehicle thats sets the time via gps..

    I'm intrigued.
I doubt they gave you a gps receiver to just set the clock automatically. In which case its via RDS. Which as Tipsy Mac says can be unreliable in Ireland.

In either case if it has ALWAYS been slow I doubt its either.

Give us more details. Car model, spec, year, equipment pack etc.

Your car gets the time from the RDS signal sent via the radio stations. The time is very unreliable using this source, and often runs a few minutes slow. I don't know who is in charge of making sure the time is correct, either the Radio stations themselves or someone else, but it only seems to get corrected a couple of times a year from my memory.

This was annoying me in my car so I just disabled it and set it manually. It will be in the manual somewhere if you can find it!
