To anybody who knows Limerick, this will be of more relevance. Passing the Kilmurry lodge, and heading in towards town on the Dublin road. Just coming to the brow of the hill (before the traffic lights at Spar), and there is this lad potting along in the bus lane in his E200. Anywho, I was past him, and down the road about 500m the buslane ends (just 100m before the traffic lights, the traffic joins in to where the buslane was, and a second lane is created for cars turning right.) Anyway, this lad goes along the whole bus lane, and rejoins the normal lane before the lights. After the lights the bus lane continues again, and next thing I see him in the buslane again (in my rear view mirror). He then proceeds to pass me out, (at this point I had a good look into his car, he was wearing golfing clothes and he wasn't a taxi driver.) So off he goes and undertakes about ten cars in the buslane, not speeding, but skipping traffic. Then, the road comes down to a roundabout, which is split into three lanes (1. Turning left, 2. Going straight on, and 3 turning right and going straight on). He is in the lane for going left, and what does he do... Goes straight on... /rant

Sorry, what a prick. Had to get that off me chest.:o

F3ck him. He'll get caught by the Gardai soon enough.

Just in case though.. I get beeped (wrongly) all the time for driving in bus lanes -When they are out of service-
I presume it was inside the time notified for that bus lane?

About an hour ago, no times posted AFAIK. Open to correction on that.

Well for example I just drove from Dublin city centre towards the airport. Bus lanes are timed for most of my route as 0700-1000 and 1600-1900. I always leave town by 1545 for exactly that reason. Gets me home half an hour sooner. I will literally pass 10's of cars at each set of lights as they dont know the posted buslane times.
I get occasional angry beeps. To which I beep back and point at the sign.

I know the feeling. They must all be out the last few days.

I was at the cross on the long mile road at EP Mooney's on the way home last night, and i was in the filter lane to go right into Walkinstown. For those of you who know it, the traffic regularly backs up from the Walkinstown roundabout down to the end of the road.

    Anyhow.

The light to go right went green. There were two/three cars in front of me. They proceeded across the junction, but left no room for me - in other words, had i crossed the junction, i'd have blocked up the whole LMR.

Using my initiative, i stay at the lights in the top of the filter lane, in case the traffic doesnt move and the lights go red. Next thing i know, the oul fella in the Opel Agila behind me starts beeping!

I ignored the first beep, but after the second one, i couldnt help it. I was on the phone to the missus (hands free of course). Apparently, all she heard was my door slamming, me talking loudly (the window and sunroof were open) and then my door slamming again.

I rarely get out of my car to confront someone, but this oul lad took the biscuit. When i asked him if he had a problem he said "the light was green, what the fu*k are you waiting for". I explained (nicely) to him that had i gone, i would have blocked up all the oncoming traffic. His reply to that was "but, the light was green".

At that point i asked him if he was touched or blind, got a good laugh from the cars around me, and i got back into my own car.

What i want to know is, where do these people get driving licences? From a lucky dip?

    /Rant over

Nope, they answer 35 very difficult questions (One of which shows a picture of a Stop sign, and the question proceeds to ask what does the sign mean), and off they go:D

Probably got his licence when they were just handing them out back in the 1970s.

I doubt it - it could be any one of 99% of Irish drivers!

I know the stretch of road you're referring to. I was on it during rush hour a few weeks ago on the way to Shannon and spent the whole time with my eyes peeled making sure I was in the right lane.

That guy is one of the worst around - the sort who will stay at the constant speed in the same lane ... even if you're in a 120kmph zone or a 50kmph zone.
