VAT + Duty on ordering wedding dress from USA

Alot of people here have recommended leephilipsbridal.com, they have given me a fantastic quote for a dress I have tried on here. Does anyone know how much VAT and Duty are charged at? I need to work out the final cost before I make the final decision to go with them.

Has anyone who has ordered from leephilipsbridal.com any experiences to share? Did the dress arrive on time etc.....

check out weddingsonline.ie... there is a girl on there who is ordering 3 bridesmaid dresses from that website.. and it is the same postage for 4 dresses.. so she was asking if anybody was wanting to order from them.. that they could combine postage to cut down on postage costs. She might have some info regarding duty etc..

Hi, I ordered my dress from the US but from netbride.com. Arrived early, and was perfect. I did have to pay VAT and duty, I think when it's sent by courier you'd be pretty much guaranteed to have it picked up by by customs so I allowed for it. Anyway it was VAT at 21.5% and duty at I think about 6%,maybe 8, about a third of the value anyway - the value there though, not what you'd pay here for it.

Ok so its the price listed on the item in $, plus duty at around 8% then VAT on top of this total combined price at 21%? Hmmmm that adds quite a bit onto it. Still way cheaper than buying here but not a total bargain. I guess the government needs to get paid too or we'd all be shopping in the US online. :D

    Thanks for the replies.
