This event sold out for individual entries in 20 minutes or so today. So much for the recession making it easier to get in to races this year. Thankfully I got my name in. Hope anyone else on here that was targeting it did too. I didn't even realise it was opening until I got a message from a friend a few minutes before it opened.

Some of these events are selling out quicker than concerts! Unreal.

Just saw this on the website -
For those of you who didn't get a place, we will be opening any spaces that may arise due to cancellations on June 11th at 15:00

For some reason I thought it was opening at 4pm. I logged on at at 3:45 only to be amazed it was closed.
Last year it was open for 8 days or so.
I see Mullaghmore is also full - dam. BOTE is about 55% full so Id better sort that one now.

Thats because they did not take the hour change into account on their count down timer as it stood yesterday , i worked it out the same also and when i looked today they had another note on the front page saying it was open at 3pm , maybe if you really want, u can pull them on it and they might give you a place , they say they have two hundred place but they might be insured for more , i know people who have gotten into these types of events after the closing date , maybe they will promise you a cancellation place

Cheers Abhainn. I signed up for Carna yesterday which is on the day before it. I think I will limit my events to Connacht with The Lost Sheep being the possible exception - unless someone tells me it has already sold out! :D

Yep Kilkee gone in 12 minutes flat! There are 200 places (the last set) going up on 24th April. Keep an eye on www.limericktriathlon.com if you want to do it. Its going to be a brilliant event and a weekend to remember... PARTEEE!!!

I'm currently between BOTE and Carna, can't decide which one I want to do?! Any suggestions? I'm watching the entries tick slowly down on active europe each day so I need to make my mind up.

pgibbo I'll see you at the Lost Sheep if I get in and if I'm in shape for it!

Eh, just wondering how you managed to sign up for Carna yesterday. It's not opening till Thursday. Did it open early for a while or something?

For some reason in the Ballina tri there was only 200 places this year, it was closer to the 300 mark last year, although it was the Connaught Championships then. It is only a small area for transition so maybe that was the reason for lower numbers this year. All we need now is teh weather and itl be a good day out.

That was what I thought too. however it is up on the Active Europe website as being open! They took my money and I got a confirmation mail too.

There were lots of people in Ballina last year with hybrids and mountain bikes, etc. Mind you, there wee some fantastic bikes on display also! I would say the bike you have will probably be fine. A new bike can cost a lot & seeing as it's your first tri, I'd wait to see how hard the bug bites before investing. Maybe you could borrow one?

Yes, will definitely be there tomorrow.

There's a notice on the Galway Tri Club website to confirm that.

Here's to hoping Carna 2009 will be another lovely day.

    Hi Guys,

Triathlon Connemara officially opened this morning for entries, there are STILL entries available but please be quick as they're selling out fast.

Active Europe put us on as active before our official opening date. All entries are valid, so anyone who signed up before the official entry date, fear not. You'll be racing too!

The Carna race is in an amazing location. It's a tough, but fantastic race so I'd really encourage people to take part. The last two years have been the best days of the summer and we're going for a hat-trick so hopefully the sun will shine! :)

You must have gotton one of the only sunny days in the whole of last summer then! A hat trick of the 'sunniest irish days' hmmm... on law of averages it may be bucketing too... no matter as I've entered as of 5 minutes ago :D

Figured doing Kilkee and the Beast would be a bit much for a first time Triathlete!
