Pick one politician

If you had to pick one politician (just one now) that would stop you voting for a particular party - which one would it be.

    For me the following

    FF- Martin Cullen (enuff said)

FG- Simon Coveney - For FG I found it hard to pick on FG since they seemed just have no backbone, however this lad was a clown on vincent Browne (couldnt answer one question on the countries finances straight) the last night and I saw him on Q&A last night I think he is emerging as my number one drain blocker for FG

LAB- Ivana Bacik - she was a candidate for lab before and I really dont like her. She probably doesnt like me either as I was born a man (and still am just so you know)

I agree with all the characters listed above. Cullen and Bacik are two of the most smug, sanctimonious politicians in this state. Others include:

Sinn Fein: Adams, Ferris, McDonald, McGuinness.

Fianna Fail: Cullen, Frank Fahy, Dick Roche, Bertie Ahern, Cyprian Brady, any member of Ógra Fianna Fail I had the misfortune to meet during my college days.

FG: Jimmy Deenihan, Fidelma Healy-Eames, Kenny because he won't stand aside, and let Bruton develop a proper opposition in this country.

Labour: Bacik (independent now to get her Trinity seat in the Seanad, still a muppet), Joan Burton (never has so much being said about so little).

Others: Joe "Wasn't Che great?" Higgins, Eoin Harris, David Norris, the vast majority of single issue independents.

FF - as per OP, Martin Cullen. He was packed off to Arts, Sport & Tourism a while back where he can't do much damage. Also Ivor Callely, Cyprian Brady, Mary Coughlan, Dick Roche

FG - Enda Kenny - doesn't inspire any confidence as a potential Taoiseach. Richard Bruton should be party leader IMO. Agree with previous posters re Simon Coveney. He showed potential a few years back but hasn't lived up to it.

Greens - Patricia McKenna (Is she still a member??). Not clue about how things work in the real world, though I do admire the stance she took which resulted in the McKenna judgement re Govt funding for referenda.

Labour - Joan Burton, for no other reason than I dislike the sound of her voice

Sinn Féin - Gerry Adams. Was very disappointed with his weak condemnation of the recent murder of British soldiers. He should have taken a much stronger stance. Also, Aongus Ó Snodaigh - to me he seems like a thug disguised as a politician.

Simon Coveyney of FG is reported in todays papers about being a "possibility" for the next leader of FG. Cant see that happening myself. Personally have no problems with the lad, thought he was very good on Q&A last night.

As for Enda himself. Tough one to call, been at a few speaches by him and met him personally. Found him the complete opposite to how the media portray him. Wouldnt hold how a man talks against him, considering we have plenty of stranger politicans including leaders. Bruton as leader, then how goes for Finance? Dont take much notice of what the media reports about the whole leadership thing.

    Sinn Fein - Gerry Adams.
FF - Martin Cullen and Mary Hanafin.
Labour - Burton. (Though, a tough one to call. Just dont trust her)

Cant think of anybody else atm.

Simon Coveney sounds like the boring priest in Fr Ted that get locked in the room and talks about the different tickets types and colours etc. etc.. If you know the episode - I think its the one with the car raffle

Definitely second that. I live in his area and don't know what the hell he does, apart from annual trips to the US to apparently persuade them to put some industry into North Kerry - but only seems to come back with a sun-tan and a bag of duty-free.

I havnt found any political party worth voting for so far. The proposals for the mini budget will give many people some idea which party has the b**ls to sort this country out. It takes brave decisions to do this and if I do agree with FG's proposals then I would have to think long and hard about voting for them. At the moment I dont know.

exactly this country most 'free' voters i.e. not pinned to a party, vote negatively. Its not who will do the best job but who will f*ck it up the least. Probably why I asked a negative question. If ivan yates came back into FG at a high level I would be happy ..........saying something positive for a change.

So come next week if any political party has huge cuts and taxes outlined in their proposed mini budget this would be the party that would do the best job but would however scare support away as the cuts might look too severe to some voters. They would in turn go for the softer option that would f**k up the least.

Being realistic there wont be much in the difference outlined in cuts and taxes between the main parties.

    SF Adams
    SF Ferris
    SF McDonald
    SF McGuinness
    SF Aongus Ó Snodaigh.

Difficult to pick out one of the above  maybe 'McDonald' for being vacuous, & the others for just being who they are & what they stand for.

Bacik is not a liberal. She is a socialist/feminist. An authoritarian.
