Was music originally made to dance to, or to emotionally experience/enjoy/feel?

Was it originally a physical(dance) or emotional(feeling) contruct? The very birth of music couldn't have been both at the same time. It had to have been either one of two things:

    1) A beat

    or

    2) Some noise that an early human could relate to ie. sounds of nature like birds singing, a woman crying during childbrith, animals growling... you get my drift.

Since music is arguably the most important human invention, I thought I'd post it right here, the core of boards: AFTER HOURS!!!

    Anyways, care to discuss?

Used to tell a story, but a story could be told different ways, through dance or song.

Logically it would be more the emotional side of things rather than just for a dance.

It starts with one neanderthal making noise and then bla bla bla.

Look at nature. Mating Calls. Chicks dig musicians.

Given Music is prehistoric, noone actually know's.

For me music is about feelings. But, then alot of the music I listen to, you wouldn't dance to.

For me music is about feelings.

There are claims that certain frequenceys affect ones mood, take the C cord, none as the happy frequency cord,

There's a frequencey that can make you trip same way theres a freqencey that can make you want to go to the toilet.......

music and emotion's have a lot to do with each other feeling depressed listening to one of those singer song writters makes you feel worse of your tits on pills and suddenly dance music allmost as good as having sex due to the indorfin release....

    Debunked.

    Can you explain the "logistics"?

It's possible that we started imitating other animals mating calls yeah... hmmm!

I think music was made to emotionally experience/enjoy/feel

There are some songs i know of that bring tears to my eyes without me having no emotional connection to them whatsoever

I would be inclined to agree with this. C chord is one of my favourite Chord's, the Variation, Cadd9, is my favourite though, and it does make me happy. Whenever I am playing I will end the song with a C.

Am and E are chords I play when I am in an intense emotional state. It feels good.

Chimpanzees create beats and rhythms on the barks of trees to gather a group for a battle.

My guess was music was first used for warning sounds and signals. Later on it probably adapted for ceremonies and rituals.

Many people have tried to use the brown note to make poeple shyte. Mythbusters and Science abuse included. No results. It's a myth.

Everything has a certain rhythm to it, all moving in unison, makes sense that we would be a part of it.

Singing would have been there to tell stories, but the rythym itself would have probably initially been recogised through people running and walking, then the spasmodic flailing of limbs would have shaped itself into some sort of dance.
Another factor to be taken into account would have been mimicking birdsongs.

Mythbuster's  please Mtyh buster's have the the time to go through every frequency Which would take a llong time and change the osolation's ?

The yanks have been developing the B frequencey as a defence so that enemy soulder's sh!t them selfs, then there's also a frequencey that they came up with that can cause children to be in lots of disscomfort, if they are missbeheaving, while adults dont hear it..

But you allready knew that didnt you...

I'd say the first time neolithic man noticed his own or his mates heartbeat, the first beat was 'invented'.

I'd imagine it started as a beat thing, which would lead me to believe that it was for dancing.

Though, who cares? It is too each as he perceives and enjoys.
