    Hello,

I had an interview for a summer position with a large American multinational about two weeks ago, they said they'd be getting back to people mid last week but didn't hear a word.

Just wondering what people's general experiences are with American multinationals-would they generally get back to you if you didn't get the job or leave you in the dark?

It depends on whether they said they would contact 'successfu' candidates by mid week. If so then it means no word, no job. If they said they would contact you one way or another and they never contacted you then I would give them a ring and see where I stand.

Regardless of other peoples experience, if they said they would get back to all candidtates then you are entitled to see where you stand. however, sorry to sound pessimistic, but if they didn't get back then it is not a good sign. then again there are some really incompetant HR staff out there, so it may be a case that they haven't contacted anyone yet, so its worth finding out one way or another so you can move on if need be.

    fingers crossed for you!

They said "we'll be contacting people mid next week to let them know" 2 weeks ago so I took that to mean everyone! I'll wait another week then give them a ring if no word.

Thanks for that very helpful advice.

I woudn't wait another week TBH. If it is a genuine oversight on their part, then waiting another week may be too late. It could be that someone simply missed your name on a list 9with the quality of HR/recruitment staff out there at the moment, it DOES happen!) - if you were successful and that happened, then waiting another week may mean they offer the job to someone else. It looks like you're not really bothered.

Even if you weren't successful why wait another week to find out and have another week of hoping and wondering?

ring them tomorrow - don't wait another week.

That's a fair enough point I didn't want to seem like nagging them etc-I'll get on it in the morning, thanks.

    Hey Segaboy

If i were you i would call them back and see what is happening, if its not the news you want to hear at least ask them why.

Someone advised me years ago to follow up on a job i really wanted, thank god they did, as they were more impressed with me following the interview process up. Best of luck

    I'm with Saabga on this.
After selling my soul and working in the recruitment industry (Hell), I can say that being proactive is a positive thing. You won't be seen as nagging them, if anything you are showing them your eagerness to work for such a company.
Go for it and the best of luck.
