Currently there is a €20-€30 price difference. Gap might widen as retailers try to shift old stock, though they may have reduced there stock holding levels by a lot.

On the other hand, most are running "Trade in your DS lite for a DSi" promos so a second hand one won't be hard to find.

Is your friends DS give you a thirst for having one yourself?

Indeed! Never realized there were so many good games on it. I'm finding the original DS to be a bit uncomfortable to hold though. Holding it in the left hand while using the stylus with the right - its a bit awkward and heavy. The DS lite on the other hand, looks nice and small.

Might try pick one up second hand.

The DS Lite has a better (brighter) screen that is much clearer than the original DS.
FYI, if you've ordered those batteries for the DS Phat, they won't work on the lite. :)

When the DS lite came out xtravision were offering trade ins on the old DS's. They then sold off the trade ins they got for €40.

No guarantee there'll be any decent offer this time, but worth keeping an eye out.

The only reason Nintendo brought out the DSI was to rid the scourge of R4 & TT, no other reason for selling a state off the art machine with such a great trade in deal.

I am surprised that Nintendo even allowed the DS lite back into circulation from Xtra Vision, I would have thought that the stipulation on the trade in offer was that the older models were literally scrapped. Give it till Christmas and there will be TT compatible with the DSI.

Christmas? come back in a month and i'd say they'll be ready. I know they've already got homebrews running on DSi so i'd be suprised if it's much longer.

Yep, there are already DSi flash cards available. Now with the DSi being firmware upgradable, it'll be cat and mouse between Nintendo and the card manufacturers. Nintendo break it, new card firmware released, Nintendo break it again, more card firmware.

I think Nintendo missed a trick here. As long as they are relying on software updates to break flash cards, then the flash card manufacturers will always be able to catch up.

GAME have a deal where you get a preowned DS lite with mario & sonic at the olympic games for €109. However, mario & sonic is on GameStop's list of games you can trade in for €30, so if you get the bundle in GAME, then trade in the game in GameStop, you get a preowned DS lite for €79

Cheers for the info, I wanted to pick up a DS-lite on the cheap to play my Japanese coach. This looks just the ticket :)

No problem. I have my Japanese coach and it's good fun. I've learned a few words from it, but I'm not motivated enough to learn it seriously :P

I was in Smyths today and they had signs up for second hand DS Lites. I think they were €79.99 and you get a "DS Lite charger" and "DS Lite stylus" free with them
